Wordless exhalation from way down deep.

JennyC:
I went to see the movie with my husband.  Both of us had to skip work to see the movie.  I read the short story and spent a lot of time on IMDb before the movie, so I sort of knew what to expect.  He did not.  He just knew it’s a movie about two gay men in love.  Normally we start to talk about the movie right away. That time, we did not talk about the movie at all until we sat in the car.    I think both of us were still immersed in the enormous sadness we got from the movie.  We sat for a short while, I sighed then said “A very good movie.”  He replied “Yeah, very good.”  Then we started to talk about the movie, whether Ennis is gay, whether the first tent scene was too sudden, which part of the movie he may not feel very comfortable with, whether homosexuality is nature or nurture, etc. all the way home and continued into the evening.

NO, Becky, you have not bored us, not me anyway. It is great that your neighbour can get to see it thanks to you when her husband is out. Might give her the courage to change her life for the best concerning her husband ;)
I remember reading a thread started by a young woman, English I think she was, who said the film had inspired her to do what she had know all along to be what she needed was she felt she was stuck: she finally left her husband. That was HER change for the better.

Yeah her husband is very homophobic and it is rubbing off on her little boy which I find really sad, that he will never know the love of another man as anything other than seeing it as homosexual love. I actually heard him use that phrase, "That is so gay" which I understand has a different meaning to school kids, but it is still using the term gay in a derogitory way. But I know she is happy with her husband and he seems a nice enough guy, but I think it is the way he has been bought up, he probably had very "traditional" parents. She has tried to convince him many times and has even used me and my dad as a porn in the cinvincing game by saying, "Brian has seen it and so has Becky, I mean how can you be afraid of seeing what a 15 year old girl has seen" but he still refuses. Honestly some people. ::)
