A song that makes me think of Brokeback Mountain

Ewww.... Ouch!

That's how old I was in the 70s.  ;)

Becky:
Sorry I will reword myself: My mum is older than you, she was a teenager in the 70s. So David: Don't you want to know what was number 1 in the UK went you were born? It is random and useless information that you can bore people with! Pm me if you don't want to release your age...although you pretty much have.

Rayn:
For me, no lyrics have reminded me of Ennis or Jack or BBM, but there is an instrumental song on the CD "The High Road" by Joe Euro that makes me remember the movie every time I hear it.

I must admit I heard it first on Brokeback Mt. Radio and I'm sure whoever is selecting music for the station felt something like I did:  There is a mysterious quality of loneliness and quiet longing in the song, "Midnight Watch" with a western quality in the guitar that makes me think of the whole movie.  It actually evokes a sweet sorrow...something like the look on Jack's face the morning after the tent scene when he says, "See ya fer supper..." and watches Ennis ride off, or like the undercurrent of tension and confusion in Ennis' first farewell to Jack, "Well, I guess I'll see ya around then."  It also makes me remember how they held each other in the Motel scene: sweaty tenderness, smoky secrecy, love held long, longed for, released and fulfilled, filled with difficulty from the beginning, but true.

The whole CD is great and I'm glad I bought it.  I hope to meet Joe Euro this summer when I visit the US.  The town where he has a shop is very near where my folks live.  It’s just another thing to be thankful for when thinking of Brokeback Mt.  I highly recommend the album for anyone who loves guitar music.

Yours truly,
Rayn

Not sure if someone has already mentioned this song.  I love this song and used to play it over and over before BBM.  This song makes me think of Brokeback Mountain.

One More Time by Laura Pausini

Nothing I must do
Nowhere I should be
No one in my life
To answer to but me

No more candlelight
No more purple skies
No one to be near
As my heart slowly dies

If I could hold you one more time
like in the days when you where mine
I'd look at you 'till I was blind
So you would stay

I'd say a prayer each time you'd smile
Cradle the moments like a child
I'd stop the world if only I
Could hold you one more time
(hmmmmmm)

I've memorized your face
I know your touch by heart
Still lost in your embrace
I'd dream of where you are
(hmmm)

If I could hold you one more time
Like in the days when you were mine
I'd look at you 'till I was blind
So you would stay

I'd say a prayer each time you'd smile
Cradle the moments like a child
I'd stop the world if only I
Could hold you one more time
One more time

I dont know if this has already been posted, but I love this song by DIDO;
It makes me think of our boys.

"My Lover's Gone"

My lover's gone
his boots no longer by my door
he left at dawn
and as I slept I felt him go
Returns no more
I will not watch the ocean
My lover's gone
no earthly ships will ever bring him home again
bring him home again

My lover's gone
I know that kiss will be my last
no more his song
the tune upon his lips has passed

I sing alone
while I watch the ocean
My lover's gone
no earthly ships will ever bring him home again
bring him home again.
