A song that makes me think of Brokeback Mountain
mvansand76:
Does it ever end?
Anybody else LOVE Alison Krauss?
Stay
Where have you been,
My long lost friend?
It's good to see you again.
Come and sit for a while
I've missed your smile
Today the past is goodbye.
Time can't erase
A lover's embrace.
Can't you hear it calling?
A new day dawning
You were longing to find.
Love's taken you far
Away from my heart,
And I've been here all alone.
Have your eyes failed to find
What took you from mine,
A vision that's faded through time?
But you sailed away,
A fine summer's day,
Cause you heard it calling,
A new day dawning,
You were longing to find.
There is a way to make you stay.
Darlin don't turn away
Don't doubt your heart
and keep us apart
I'm right where you are
Stay
There is a way to make you stay.
Darlin don't turn away.
Don't doubt your heart
and keep us apart
I'm right where you are
Stay.
Ghost in this house
I don't pick up the mail
I don't pick up the phone
I don't answer the door
I'd just as soon be alone
I don't keep this place up
I just keep the lights down
I don't live in these rooms
I just rattle around
I'm just a ghost in this house
I'm just a shadow upon these walls
As quietly as a mouse I haunt these halls
I'm just a whisper of smoke
I'm all that's left of two hearts on fire
That once burned out of control
You took my body and soul
I'm just a ghost in this house
I don't care if it rains
I don't care if it's clear
I don't mind staying in
There's another ghost here
He sits down in your chair
And he shines with your light
And he lays down his head
On your pillow at night
I'm just a ghost in this house
I'm just a shadow upon these walls
I'm living proof of the damage
Heartbreak does
I'm just a whisper of smoke
I'm all that's left of two hearts on fire
That once burned out of control
And took my body and soul
I'm just a ghost in this house
Oh, I'm just a ghost in this house
Dixie Chicks - A Home
I mistook the warnings for wisdom
From so called friends quick to advise
Though your touch was telling me otherwise
Somehow I saw you as a weakness
I thought I had to be strong
Oh but I was just young, I was scared, I was wrong
Not a night goes by
I dont dream of wandering
Through the home that might have been
And I listened to my pride
When my heart cried out for you
Now every day I wake again
In a house that might have been
A home
Guess I did what I did believing
That love is a dangerous thing
Oh but that couldnt hurt anymore than never knowing
Not a night goes by
I dont dream of wandering
Through the home that might have been
And I listened to my pride
When my heart cried out for you
Now every day I wake again
In a house that might have been
A home
A home
Four walls, a roof, a door, some windows
Just a place to run when my working day is through
They say home is where the heart is
If the exception proves the rule I guess thats true
Not a night goes by
I dont dream of wandering
Through the home that might have been
And I listened to my pride
When my heart cried out for you
Now every day I wake again
In a house that might have been
A home
A home

I do, I do, MV. I think she has the voice of an angel.
One last one from the Phil Collins/Genesis oevre for Saucy. The coup de grace of the BBM reminiscent songs from their collection, and one I'm sure has been posted before here:
Against All Odds
How can I just let you walk away, just let you leave without a trace
When I stand here taking every breath with you?
You're the only one who really knew me at all.
How can you just walk away from me,
When all I can do is watch you leave?
We've shared the laughter and the pain and even shared the tears.
You're the only one who really knew me at all.
So take a look at me now, there's just an empty space
And there's nothing left here to remind me,
Just the memory of your face.
Take a look at me now, well there's just an empty space.
And you coming back to me is against the odds and that's what I've got to face.
I wish I could just make you turn around,
Turn around and see me cry.
There's so much I need to say to you,
So many reasons why.
You're the only one who really knew me at all.
So take a look at me now, there's just an empty space
And there's nothing left here to remind me, just the memory of your face.
Take a look at me now, cause there's just an empty space
But to wait for you is all I can do and that's what I've got to face.
Take a good look at me now, cause I'll still be standing here.
And you coming back to me is against all odds
It's the chance i've gotta take.
Take a look at me now.

I already posted this in another topic, but I noticed this topic a bit later and since it seems that more people share songs that remind them of Brokeback Mountain in this one I post it over here as well. I don't think a lot of you know this song (but I don't know how many of you come from Holland as well).
This is a song by a Dutch band named Kane. I translated the 'she' from the original song into a 'he', but this song just gets to me whenever I hear it.
Where do I go now
With my head against the window
Seal the letter which I did not sign
Should I wait for you for one last time
There's no end and no beginning
Every word comes like a silent scream
He told all the things I did not see
How could I know that he would lift me up to let me down
How could I know that you are all that really matters now
How could I know that forever wasn't quite so long
So where do I go now
Where do I go yeah, now
Where do I go yeah
he says nothing's everlasting
I'm so confused, I don't know what to do, what to say
I forgive you but I can not stay
How could I know I thought you'd wait for me but I was wrong
How could I know that you are all that really matters now
How could I know that forever wasn't quite so long
So where do I go now
Where do I go yeah, now
Where do I go yeah
Oh, yeah Where do I go now
Where do I go yeah, yeah
Where do I go yeah (2x)
He says nothing's everlasting

mvansand76 ,
I love Alison Krause!!!
Here's a song that makes me think of Ennis and Jack...not so much the lyrics but the sing songy mellow , almost lullaby-ish way the song is sung...it's got a vaguely country feel to it. Just a beautiful song..
here's part of the lyrics:
When you say love is a simple chemical reaction
Can't say I agree
'Cause my chemical, yeah, left me a beautiful disaster
Still love's all I see...
So I'm taking these pills for to fill up my soul
And I'm drinking them down with cheap alcohol
And you'd be inclined to be mine for the taking
And part of this terrible mess that I'm making
But you, you're the catalyst
You'll be the vein
You'll be the pain
You'll be the scar
You'll be the road, rolling below
The wheels of a car
And all of the thoughts, on God
Don't know if I'm strong enough now
You'll be the vein
You'll be the pain
You'll be the
Catalyst...
