I love Alison Krause!!!
Here's a song that makes me think of Ennis and Jack...not so much the lyrics but the sing songy mellow , almost lullaby-ish way the song is sung...it's got a vaguely country feel to it. Just a beautiful song..

Her voice is like that of an angel, isn't it?
What is the name of the song you posted?

This is a song by a Dutch band named Kane. I translated the 'she' from the original song into a 'he', but this song just gets to me whenever I hear it.

Hi Lynda, I love Kane too (also from Holland! ;D)! What do you think of "Before you let me go" and "Damn those eyes" (the acoustic live version?

Oops mvansand76 !
The song I posted is "Catalyst" by Anna Nalick. Check it out!
And yeah, Alison does have the voice of an angel.
:-)

I loved that k.d. laing song, mvansand76! Another song that reminds me of BBM is "I'll follow you into the dark" by Death Cabs for Cutie (sorry, don't have the lyrics).
Polly:
"Ride on" (sung by Christy Moore, written by Jimmy MacCarthy) kind-of-works for both Jack and Ennis's viewpoints. The song as a whole made me think of Jack's feelings on Ennis riding away at the end of the Dozy Embrace scene - and all the other times they leave each other. The chorus and second verse fit Ennis's viewpoint at the end of the story (especially the 'stinging tears' in the story). I think it's a lovely song - both romantic and sad - that fits perfectly with that BBM sense of unfulfilled longing...

Ride on
True you ride the finest horse I have ever seen,
Standing sixteen, one or two. With eyes wild and green,
You ride the horse so well, hands light to the touch,
I could never go with you no matter how I wanted to.
Ride on, see you, I could never go with you
No matter how I wanted to.
Ride on, see you, I could never go with you
No matter how I wanted to.
When you ride in to the night without a trace behind,
Run your claw along my gut one last time.
I turn to face an empty space where you used to lie,
And look for the spark that lights the night
Through a teardrop in my eye.
Ride on, see you, I could never go with you
No matter how I wanted to.
Ride on, see you, I could never go with you
No matter how I wanted to.
No matter how I wanted to.
