Lords of Dogtown-I made a mistake!

<< < (3/4) > >>

bbm_stitchbuffyfan:
I saw A Knight's Tale a few years back and just plain didn't like the movie. I haven't seen Lords of Dogtown or Casanova but I know I'd have a rough time watching Heath in them. I mean, he's an excellent actor and I think he can be versatile as well but I think he was just a bit *too* good as Ennis. I can say the same thing for Jake as Jack because I watched Jarhead after I saw Brokeback, and although I liked Jarhead, it was gutting to watch Jake in a different role.

It's so weird and although these two are probably my favorite actors, this Brokeback illness of mine has almost put me off their movies, other than BBM, for life. Or at least, several long months...

That's interesting but I don't feel that way at all. There's Ennis and Jack, and then there's Heath and Jake. I have always liked Heath as an actor (I am less familiar with Jake) and I really want to see him in other things. I am hoping that his new Australian movie (Candy) gets released somewhere near where I live...I want to see that. Early press is good.

I completely agree Leslie. Everyone keeps saying I only love BBM cos Jake's in it but it's not true. Within the first two minutes Heath and Jake are lost to me and it's all about Ennis and Jack. They are completely seperate, they don't even look the same to me.

Balance has been restored to my universe. I just saw the last hour of 10 Things I Hate About You and Heath was sooooo damn cute! He was very Heath-the charming, funny Heath, not the ADD Heath (though I love them both) and not at all Ennis so things are back as they should be. Phew!

Also bought Monsters Ball today.

I think my problem with A Knight's Tale is that I just plain don't like it, either, Buffster.

I also just caught a bit of 10 Things I Hate About You and was reminded of how much I enjoyed Heath in that the first time I saw it many moons ago.  Don't much like Julia Stiles, though, but that can be overlooked.  So I can probably deal with Casanova, as long as it doesn't have the decision-making disorder A Knight's Tale has (Am I campy? Am I serious? Am I trying at all to be historically accurate, or just blowing it off entirely?).  I think it didn't help that the friend who recommended it had the gall to call it "the new Princess Bride."  Please.  There is no substitute for that one.
