Songs, Lyrics and More Music
Lumière:
Hello everyone!
I don't know if we have a thread dedicated to the songs, lyrics, music that moves us or once did.
If we don't, I am starting one.
Why today?
I have been listening to this one song from Rufus Wainwright's new album: "Release the stars"
and there is a song on it called "Going to a town".
I love it so much, I love the music video too.
Here is the link to it on Youtube. :)
"Going To A Town"
I'm going to a town that has already been burnt down
I'm going to a place that has already been disgraced
I'm gonna see some folks who have already been let down
I'm so tired of America
I'm gonna make it up for all of The Sunday Times
I'm gonna make it up for all of the nursery rhymes
They never really seem to want to tell the truth
I'm so tired of you, America
Making my own way home, ain't gonna be alone
I've got a life to lead, America
I've got a life to lead
Tell me, do you really think you go to hell for having loved?
Tell me, enough of thinking everything that you've done is good
I really need to know, after soaking the body of Jesus Christ in blood
I'm so tired of America
I really need to know
I may just never see you again, or might as well
You took advantage of a world that loved you well
I'm going to a town that has already been burnt down
I'm so tired of you, America
Making my own way home, ain't gonna be alone
I've got a life to lead, America
I've got a life to lead
I got a soul to feed
I got a dream to heed
And that's all I need
Making my own way home, ain't gonna be alone
I'm going to a town
That has already been burnt down
What are some of the songs/lyrics that move you? :)

I love everything Sara McLachlan sings .. and I never tire of her voice and her songs.
But this song is my favorite.
I posted it on my blog a while back, but I can never mention it enough.. :)

Angel
Spend all your time waiting
for that second chance
for a break that would make it okay
there's always one reason
to feel not good enough
and it's hard at the end of the day
I need some distraction
oh beautiful release
memory seeps from my veins
let me be empty
and weightless and maybe
I'll find some peace tonight
In the arms of an angel
fly away from here
from this dark cold hotel room
and the endlessness that you fear
you are pulled from the wreckage
of your silent reverie
you're in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort there
So tired of the straight line
and everywhere you turn
there's vultures and thieves at your back
and the storm keeps on twisting
you keep on building the lie
that you make up for all that you lack
it don't make no difference
escaping one last time
it's easier to believe in this sweet madness oh
this glorious sadness that brings me to my knees
In the arms of an angel
fly away from here
from this dark cold hotel room
and the endlessness that you fear
you are pulled from the wreckage
of your silent reverie
you're in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort there
you're in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort here

I can't be the only one here who loves music..lol.. Come on folks! 8)
Back to Rufus Wainwright for a moment..
I love the entire BBM soundtrack but one song I must've listened to 100 times(or more) is "Maker Makes"..
Takes me back to the days when a few others like me would sit back in the theatre after the movie was over and brood over these amazing words..
It breaks my heart, but oh so beautifully..
Youtube:
Maker makes..
One more chain I break
To get me closer to you
One more chain does the maker make
To keep me from bustin' through
One more notch I scratch
To keep me thinkin' of you
One more notch does the maker make
Upon my face so blue
Get along, little doggies
Get along, little doggies
One more smile I fake
And try my best to be glad
One more smile does the maker make
Because he knows I'm sad
Oh Lord, how I know
Oh Lord, how I see
That only can the maker make
A happy man of me
Get along little doggies
Get along little doggies
Get along

I agree completely. I listen to the soundtrack every night upon going to bed....and just about when this song comes up, I'm near asleep, asleep, or awakened and in a fog to hear the words and melody so perfect for that nightly moment.

Another ... :)
A very feel-good beautiful song from Christina Aguilera.
I love the music video as well..
Beautiful..
Youtube:
(Lyrics in part...)
Every day is so wonderful
And suddenly, it's hard to breathe
Now and then, I get insecure
From all the fame, I'm so ashamed
I am beautiful no matter what they say
Words can't bring me down
I am beautiful in every single way
Yes, words can't bring me down
So don't you bring me down today
To all your friends, you're delirious
So consumed in all your doom
Trying hard to fill the emptiness
The piece is gone and the puzzle undone
That's the way it is
You are beautiful no matter what they say
Words won't bring you down
You are beautiful in every single way
Yes, words won't bring you down
Don't you bring me down today...
