Songs, Lyrics and More Music
Front-Ranger:
I have had a unique opportunity to listen to a collection of 30 different tracks of Gustavo's music from the movie. Even though I've been a little stressed out the past few days getting ready for the BBQ, this music has kept me sane. It may be a little new-agey, but a diet of all Gustaavo, all the time, is something I would recommend as an antidote to the trials and tribulations of day to day life. It is so addictive, that sometimes I find myself unable to switch the channel or turn a song off, and I have even found myselft driving around the block a time or two so I could listen some more! I am indebted to my dear FRiend who made this CD.

Back to Rufus Wainwright for a moment..
I love the entire BBM soundtrack but one song I must've listened to 100 times(or more) is "Maker Makes"..
Takes me back to the days when a few others like me would sit back in the theatre after the movie was over and brood over these amazing words..
It breaks my heart, but oh so beautifully..
Youtube:
Maker makes..
One more chain I break
To get me closer to you
One more chain does the maker make
To keep me from bustin' through
One more notch I scratch
To keep me thinkin' of you
One more notch does the maker make
Upon my face so blue
Get along, little doggies
Get along, little doggies
One more smile I fake
And try my best to be glad
One more smile does the maker make
Because he knows I'm sad
Oh Lord, how I know
Oh Lord, how I see
That only can the maker make
A happy man of me
Get along little doggies
Get along little doggies
Get along
--- End quote ---
I love the song but now that I really know the words, what a difference!
It speaks a sad truth.

and here comes Chuck to totally take the thread into a different mood.
lmao
While I do love serious music, I've always liked to party and dance, and the music that did that for me back in the day was freestyle!
If ya don't remember freestyle (or never heard of it) it was a style of dance music that was latin based.....very electronic, and the beat was not driven by a bass drum, but by percussion type drums.
One of the better known freestyle acts (they crossed over to the pop charts as well) was Sweet Sensation. Here are two of their performances, to give an example of freestyle.
Here is "Never Let You Go"
and here is "Sincerely Yours"

Last night I was watching a movie I really enjoy, called Loving Annabelle. Quite the beautiful little movie.
One of my favorite songs is called Gravity by Sara Bareilles
It makes my eyes water in the sweetest way and the words are so good...

Gravity
by Sara Bareilles
Something always brings me back to you.
It never takes too long.
No matter what I say or do
I’ll still feel you here ’til the moment I’m gone.
You hold me without touch.
You keep me without chains.
I never wanted anything so much
than to drown in your love and not feel your rain.
Set me free, leave me be.
I don’t want to fall another moment into your gravity.
Here I am and I stand so tall, just the way I’m supposed to be.
But you’re on to me and all over me.
You loved me ’cause I’m fragile.
When I thought that I was strong.
But you touch me for a little while
and all my fragile strength is gone.
Set me free, leave me be.
I don’t want to fall another moment into your gravity.
Here I am and I stand so tall,
just the way I’m supposed to be.
But you’re on to me and all over me.
I live here on my knees as I try to make you see that you’re
everything I think I need here on the ground.
But you’re neither friend nor foe though I can’t seem to let you go.
The one thing that I still know is that you’re keeping me down.
