here is Carissa Gaghan's thoughts on Episode 3 (the first episode in Burkina Faso)
 ;D

Quote
Carissa Explains It All - Episode 3
By Carissa Gaghan (11.27.2007)

I’m sorry about how late this is, but I kept having stuff to do. I hope that you can find love deep in your hearts to forgive me.

My three favorite teams going into this episode are the Goths, Goths and more Goths!

That is funny how no one can pronounce the place they have to go to. I tried at least three times, and each time it sounded more like I was doing baby talk. I wonder how many times it took Phil to get it right.

I'm glad that Ronald finally realized that he was being mean to his daughter. I just hope that it is not too late because I really want to like this team.

I have a lot of credit to give to Ronald for running across that really big airport with an even bigger hernia. Christina was probably really proud of her Dad for not giving up, even when he was in such pain.

Why are the racers all so stressed on this flight to Paris? What's the big deal about all of the teams except for Nat and Jen being on it? They must know by now that by the next scene, they will all be equal again.

That wasn't nice for Jennifer to say that they were going to be sold to people for money. Just because they are in Africa doesn't mean that someone wants them for slaves.

I wonder what Grandma thinks about all of Donald's flirting. No doubt he will be sleeping on the couch after this episode.

Even though the blondes said that they were going to flirt their way ahead on the race, I think that Donald is way better at it than they are. Too bad Donald didn't include this ability in his intro, because I would have laughed so hard if he had said that.

The blondes were so rude on the train that I have moved them down from my fifth favorite team to my most hated team.

When you look at how these people live in this area, it really makes me appreciate what I have here in America.

My Mom won't let my brother's goats have babies. If she did, I could have fun milking them all the time.I would love to do this roadblock because I have always wanted to milk an animal and feel what an udder is like.

The baby camels trying to sneak a drink from their moms during this roadblock, remind me of one of my favorite movies "The Story of the Weeping Camel". It is a really good movie if you want to see it.

When will the racers realize that you need to be as calm as possible when working with animals? Don't any of them watch the Dog Whisperer?

Christina doing this roadblock would have made a great "Got Milk" commercial since she had the biggest milk mustache ever.

Even though I kind of felt bad for Lorena, I couldn't help but laugh over her crying over spilt milk. If she didn't spill so much, she could be with her friends going in the wrong direction.

I would do teach it because learn it would be way too hard for me. I even had to switch from Spanish to French because I stink at languages.

The brother and sister had a great idea just learning five words each. I bet that they were able to finish twice as fast as the others.

These two school detours have to be two of the best options that they have ever had. They both seem so equal, which I really like.

This guy must be crazy. He runs with a hernia, but is worried that he might get a little wet from the rain. What is Ronald doing stopping to put on his jacket on the way to the Pit stop? This guy must be crazy. He runs with a hernia, but is worried that he might get a little wet from the rain.

Waiting to see who is going to come in last is way too tense for me. I don't think that there is anyway I can re-watch tonight's show after this.

Look, the Pitstop lady has a baby! That baby has to be the youngest greeter ever. Now I know why Phil had the umbrella out. It wasn't because he was worried about his hair do; he was trying to protect the baby. Phil is so cool.

Wow, I feel so bad for those still on dial up. I have not been 100% happy with Comcast however...... the speed is good but the cost is sure more  >:( but I have enjoyed watching stuff on youtube and without it would have missed most of AR this week. And I still have to finish watching all. I'm running so behind this week. Anyway, I am really loving the goth couple. So far my favorites.

I was a bit upset over the chickens. As much as I love AR, it's not always 100% animal friendly. I stopped watching on Youtube when they hit the goat market but I do need to watch it all. I was able to catch the last 20 minutes on TV when I got home from work

David, in some past seasons I too forgot about it. I was so mad at myself! But I'd get involved in something and that was it. Now it's a race to get out of work on time and home Sundays to catch it. This week I didn't make it.

No i agree the animal friendly element wasn't great te last episode - (I was readin on tarflies that the carryiong a chicken in the bag thing is a local custom to honour the chief... so it did have some type of local culture element to it).

Apparently Vyxin is vegan according to the innertube clips - she talks about she is distressed by the way the animals are treated (and did you see how she was cradling the chicken at the mat rather than letting it dangle in the bag? Yay Vyxin!) but then goes on to talk about how she can't judge... and thats when it goes on to the clip that you see on the show where she breaks down in tears. But its a longer clip.

She says the night before at the previous pitstop she saw those little kids scurry about and pick termites from the dusty ground to eat.  :-\

She says - yeah i can be a vegan at home cos I have choices about where I buy my food and what i eat, but here they dont.... she makes a pretty valid point actually.

Hi Kelda, yes I did notice how Vyxin was carring the chicken. She seems very sensitive and carring. I wonder if others who watch AR notice how lucky any of us are to live in an industrialized country. I don't think people need all the western trappings to be happy. In fact I know they don't. But people need enough to eat, shelter and safety.

definitely - when we have a bad day at work we should really try to put things in perspective - at least we can go to a warm place and eat some comfort food like icecream while complaining about our shitty day....  :P

waaaahhhhhhaaaayyyyy!!! Well done David...

Yeah - I agree its like her little way to get under his skin while being supportive - hee!

and yes I liked jennifer but shana -growl- did not like her. she was a bitch to  Jennifer. The fact that Ryan Seacrest dumped her must say she is even more shallow than him, a proper celeb!

I still love Nic & don and was convinced that Nate and jen were out tonight.

I know where they go next week - dont worry I wont tell you where - but can I just say - I've been there!!!! I like it when they go to places I've been!!
