In 2002 Shannon released the CD "The Best Is Yet To Come".  The CD contains remixes of some of her hits, as well as new material.

Shannon still performs at shows.

Shannon kicked the door open in 1983, and another act walked through.

1985 saw the release of the CD "Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam with Full Force".  The story was that Full Force (producers) had a song and two musicians (Cult Jam) and were looking for a young female singer.  Into the auditions walked Lisa Valez.  Renamed "Lisa Lisa", her voice was deemed perfect for their song, which was to be an anthem for young women who were resisting their boyfriends advances.

The song was titled "I Wonder If I Take You Home", and was more Latin sounding than Shannon's records.  The song went to the top of the dance charts and got heavy pop radio airplay, and it hit #34 on the pop charts.

The follow up single "Can You Feel The Beat" hit the top of the dance charts, but didn't do well on the pop charts.  However, the CD had one more single released, the love ballad "All Cried Out", which became a big hit, and got to #8 on the pop charts.

With freestyle acts hitting the Top 40 now, Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam released their second CD in 1987, "Spanish Fly".

This CD was more successful than its predecessor, with the first two songs, "Head To Toe" and "Lost In Emotion" both hitting #1 on the Hot 100 pop chart.

1989 saw the release of Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam's third CD "Straight To The Sky".  However, the act's streak was starting to faulter.

The lead off single was "Little Jackie Wants To Be A Star" and while it did well on the dance and R&B charts, it only got to #29 on the Hot 100 pop chart.

The second song released "Just Git It Together", got near to the top of the R&B and dance charts, but it failed to hit the Hot 100 chart.

1991 saw the release of "Straight Outta Hell's Kitchen", the 4th Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam CD.

Only one single "Let The Beat Hit 'em" saw any success.  It hit the top of the R&B and Dance charts.  When it got to the Hot 100, it was only able to get to #37.

Not long after this CD, Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam disbanded.  Lisa Lisa went on to record some solo material, act on TV, and still does shows as a solo act, singing all the Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam tunes.

After the initial successes of Shannon and Lisa Lisa, the stage was set for the first "true" freestyle song, and all in the industry say that this record was recorded by Nayobe.

Nayobe was a young Cuban who was discovered at a talent contest, and she was signed to Fever Records in 1987.  Her first single was "Please Don't Go".

Dealing with gang violence, "Please Don't Go" tells of a young girl asking her boyfriend not to go to a gang fight that night.  The song became a huge dance hit.

Her debut CD was released, and two more singles "Good Things Come To Those Who Wait" and "Second Chance For Love" also became big dance hits.

In 1990, Nayobe changed direction, and released the CD "Promise Me", which was more R&B leaning than dance/freestyle.  She then recorded some salsa music.

Nayobe still performs at shows, and is considered the "godmother" of freestyle.

Signed to MicMac records, they released their debut CD and the first single, "Surrend (Your Love) became a huge hit. The follow up single, "Fallen Angel", was also a dance hit.

Clear Touch has recently reformed, and are doing club shows.

NY singer Corina was originally signed to indie label Cutting Records. She released three big hits for them, "Out Of Control", "Give Me Back My Heart" and "Loving You Like Crazy".

The then signed to major label Atco, and released her debut CD, "Corina". Three more hits were released, with the first one "Temptation" getting to #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. "Whispers" and "Now That Your Gone" became huge dance hits, and crossed over to the Billboard Hot 100, but neither charted as high as "Temptation".
