Thought I'd digitally enhance the frame for you all...

There are some really great fantasy scenes in here.
Why does this hit me so hard?

My favorite would have to be the scene where Jack gets Ennis's postcard that says "You Bet" Can't out see the smile on his face and the look in his eyes?

My fantasy scene is this, Jack somehow makes  it to the chuch and crashes Ennis's wedding to Alma, breaking out in a chorus of  And I Am Telling You, like he did on SNL! ( minus the dress of course!) . He would'nt wanna frighten anybody, just stop Ennis from making the biggest mistake of his life. Well it's a fantasy right? Alma attacks Jack and Jack fights her off calling her a old sweater wearin, slip showin, lowdown manstealer.!!!!  As they roll around on the floor, !Ennis faints dead away  and is carried out by his best man and that creepy preacher. Hee Hee! ;D ;D

My fantasy scene would be John Twist never MENTIONING Randall (or whoever he was) to Ennis.   To me then Ennis could REALLY feel 'a (true enough) love that will never grow old.'   Always hated John Twist for saying it but I guess it needs to be there to let Ennis know that it was indeed a tire iron...  Wish Annie Proulx had come up with something to COMFORT Ennis when he's hurting so badly.   Jack's mom really helps as best as can be had.

That comment from John Twist must have hurt Ennis so bad...  It really tears me up.

Though I'm not sure it lets Ennis KNOW it was a tire iron as much as it makes him BELIEVE it was a tire iron (we still don't know for sure, IMO!).

Well, she did! And she hung it in the closet upstairs!  :'( :)
