Hey Milli!

I'm good, trying to hang here a little but good god, it really sucks my time away from what I need to be doing!

Still, it's great to see you and others. How many times will that be for you to see CR? It might be worth another look I suppose, though I still haven't seen Borat yet or Stranger than Fiction, and wanted to see the latter especially.

Cheers!

Hey Jen -

Tonight will be my 3rd ..er, 4th, er..yeah, .. viewing of CR!  8)  Yet this obsession is way under control when I compare it to the Brokeback fever that hit me like a tonne of bricks at the start of the year! lol

I want to watch Apocalypto next .. It looks good!  :)

Have missed seeing ya online.  Hope life is good!  ;)

Wow, you do like CR! It was really fun--any thing stick out to you more on subsequent viewings? I bet there is a site out there in cyberspace that serves as the Bettermost for Bond fans...wonder what they call themselves? Bondages?

Apoc looks waaaay to violent for me, but if it weren't so, I might like it I suppose. I'm kinda into learning about pre-Christian civilizations.

It's good to be back and yes, life is much better this fall than it was back in the world of temping. But then again, I had the time to be here cause of that when I didn't have the energy or time for anything else.

Enjoy tonight!

Just how perfect Daniel Craig is as Bond! His facial expressions (the 'cruel' mouth, those amazing eyes), his walk, his look, his attitude, ..everything!  8)

I now have 2 fave 007s on my list:  Connery and Craig!

And I missed how the martini thing came to be a favorite here -- I thought it was just already a given that he liked them.

I love how they set you up for the old cliché and then cheekily not give you what you expected. "Shaken or Stirred?" "Do I look like I give a damn?"

I had heard this line before I saw the movie and the context in which it is spoken in the movie was not explained ot me, so this line made it sound like Bond was still 'rough around the edges' and didn't have the taste he grew to have in martinis (shaking the martini apparently dilutes the drink less than stirring it), instead,

SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!  SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!  SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!

he does like martinis and is quite knowledgeable about his drinks and this line is spoken when he's distracted and angry.

that's what I liked about the writing. the words not only function to entertain, but they give insight into the characters at the same time, if you care to look.

I'm going to see CR again on Sunday with a 80 year-old family friend. He had a stroke 3 years ago and is paralysed on one side and incapable of speech. But I know from before his stroke that he is a big fan of James Bond and all kind of gadets. We found out about which cinema gives access to wheelchairs and airs CR. It's going to be a fun day!

I'm getting side track, but I just heard a discussion of this on a food radio show. The host was talking to a rep from Plymouth Gin. When asked whether we should be ordering our martinis shaken, he said "Absolutely not!" Shaking the martini can break ice shards into the drink and thus dilutes it more than stirring. In addition, shaking will "bruise" the gin, separating the oil in the chemistry of the gin, making it cloud up, instead of remaining clear and crisp.
