Kelda:
that really usefuk sharon and Jess you crack me up!!

--- Quote from: injest on December 02, 2007, 08:10:15 pm ---I am imagining French fan site dedicated to Brokeback Mountain with only Babelfish to translate for them.... They sit down with their popcorn and Ennis jumps out of the truck....walks up to the office there...then here comes Jack....

then Aquirre pulls up and goes inside for a minute...comes back opens the door and hollers "receive an ass in here"

they would be so confused..."Did YOU see a donkey in that movie?? well why did he say he was giving them an ass??"

Imagine THEIR open forum!!!  there would be endless talk of the symbolism of the donkey...

Sharon:
Keda, you said:
"that really usefuk sharon and Jess you crack me up!!"

- when I translate what you said by Babelfish,
from English to German then the translation is:

"dieses wirklich usefuk sharon und Jess knacken Sie mich oben!!"
- would mean ... Sharon and Jess crack me on the top!!!  :laugh:

the program can`t translate usefuk (I guess it means - can`t be used?!)

LOL!!

no, Kelda misspelled it....she MEANT useful.

see? even when we all speak one language we can get mixed up!!

 :P

(and we would never crack Kelda on the head!)

David In Indy:
Jess, here is an example of Babelfish's translation of a valid Dutch phrase into English.

When I type "ik wil naar huis" which in Dutch means "I want to go home", Babelfish returned the following...

"I want to house".  ::)

Here's another one...

"Zullen we een wandeling gaan maken?" (Do you want to go for a walk?)

Bablefish said: "We a walk will will make?"

:laugh: :laugh:

Okay. One more...

This is a good one to ask Babelfish: "Zou u dat kunnen vertalen?" (Can you translate that?)

Babelfish said: "You that are able translate?"  :laugh: :laugh: Apparently NOT!!  :P

David In Indy:
I wonder if this will even work?

I will translate something into a language I THINK nobody around here can speak, and then I will translate it back into English. Jess or anyone, try to guess what my original question was, okay?

Here it is...

Okay, I just translated it into Greek, and this is what it said...

Τι ώρα θα επιθυμούσατε να σηκωθείτε αύριο;

Now, back to English again...

Which hour you would wish to raise itself tomorrow?

God, that almost sounds obscene!! I swear it wasn't. What was my original question Jess? (Or anyone)  :laugh:
