That's fine with me if people want to use their passports instead of their drivers license. I've done this too with my passport. But I'm having problems with the idea of going through customs when entering another state! So this means every time I go to see my relatives in Ohio, I must go through customs, and if I drive down to see my relatives in south Louisiana, I must go through customs FOUR times. This doesn't make any sense to me. I'm not leaving the country. I may be in another state, but I'm still in MY country. It's just like David said, Big Brother. They probably want to do this so they can track us, forcing us to give up even more of our privacy, and no doubt president Bush is behind this dastardly plan.

You wouldn't need to go through Customs at all.    You only need to do that when entering the country from outside.       The concept of having everyone get a Passport would be to basically have a National form of I.D.     The Drivers license is not a good form of National I.D. because the various DMV agencies are not interconnected by computer.      Passports can be scanned in and automatically log you in or out of a location.     Notice how when you fly now that when you walk up to the ticket counter with your Passport the first thing the agent does is swipe your Passport in the computers '"reader" opening on the keyboard.     Customs does the same thing.     

Image now if Police cars were equipped that way.    If you are wanted in another State for whatever violation, the Officer on the spot would know right away.    Which if it catches a child kidnapper would be a good thing.       Right now if the Police are looking for someone who may be a flight risk, they bring a grainy photocopy of their picture to the airport and pass it around.      Imagine if that persons name could be flagged at the ticket counter if they had to present a Passport to fly?

We recently had the Police come around and show us a picture of a father and daughter.   The father took the child after school and was fleeing to Florida to escape his ex-wife.    It was not even know if they were flying or driving.    But if his Passport was flagged, the ticket agent would see that and could phone the Police right away.

Your drivers license as identification is worthless outside of the US. Why is it held in such high regard within this country? And not everyone drives...

OK, I'm just free associating here and not interested in arguing with anybody about this, but it occurs to me that we do already have a "National form of I.D." Or maybe it should be. It's called your Social Security card and number. And how many opportunities are there for fraud involving your Social Security number? What kind of problems would we be opening ourselves up to if everyone was required to have a passport as a national form of ID?

We could easily pass between Canada and the USA, if you were born in either of those countries before, with just some ID.

But since the islamics bombed, now we need PASSPORTS, but both counrties will let such criminals in because they easily know how to fake these and pass in too easy!!

Unfortunately, we are now slaves to passports for those rich criminals!
