The conductor and I took a side trip up to Fairbanks.  We went to Chena Hot Springs Resort and bathed in a giant outdoor pool surrounded by frozen rocks and trees.  It was fab.  Unfortunately, I didn't take a picture of the steaming pool, but the resort was funky and cozy.  Here's one of the (stuffed) residents:

Back in Anchorage, I went to the Alaska Native Heritage Center and saw some cool sights:

I bought this print of a blanket toss ceremony from Alaskan native artist Ken Lisbourne from Point Hope, way out west near Kotzebue:



I couldn't leave Alaska without visiting Sarah's old hangout in Wasilla:
