I thought recommendations for BBM Radio deserved their own thread, so here it is.

I just discovered Kelly Hogan's C&W song, "Papa Was a Rodeo."  It's perfect for BBM Radio.  Sorry if it's already on the list...  (is there a current playlist available somewhere?)

Good idea Impish.  I would make some suggestions but it would help to know what the current playlist looks like.

Hey I'm Eddie--new here but not to BBM.  Have been a fan since the story came out in 1997.  You guys rock!  My suggestion would be "Harmless Heart" by Trisha Yearwood--if it aint Jack twist talking about Ennis, I dont know what is!!

"Cowboy's Born With A Broken Heart" by BOY HOWDY

He don't cry, when he falls down

And he's been known, to hit the ground

There ain't too much, that could tear his world apart

A cowboy's born, with a broken heart

verse 2

So if you're trying, to make him blue

You're better off, with someone new

'Cause he's been lonesome, right from the very start

A cowboy's born, with a broken heart

chorus

God gave him his common sense, he learned young to mend a fence

But he keeps all his feelings locked inside

He was taught to rope and brand, and always be an honest man

But if it ever comes down to his pride

verse 3

Just let him go, it ain't worth the fight

He may be wrong, but he's still right

'Cause he's been lonesome, right from the very start

A cowboy's born, with a broken heart

solo

God game him his common sense, he learned young to mend a fence

He keeps all his feelings locked inside

He was taught to rope and brand, and always be an honest man

But if it ever comes down to his pride

Just let him go, it ain't worth the fight

He may be wrong, but he's still right

'Cause he's been lonesome, right from the very start

A cowboy's born, with a broken heart

A cowboy's born, with a broken heart

song slowly fades out

okay- I'm crying! Never heard the song before, but those lyrics made me cry for sure  :'(

I would suggest "Warning Signs" by Coldplay...it talks about how you can't live your life in fear or you'll miss out on everything good.

A warning sign
I missed the good part then I realised
I started looking and the bubble burst
I started looking for excuses

Come on in
I've got to tell you what a state I'm in
I've got to tell you in my loudest tones
That I started looking for a warning sign

When the truth is
I miss you
Yeah the truth is
That I miss you so.

A warning sign
You came back to haunt me and I realised
That you were an island and I passed you by
When you were an island to discover

Come on in
I've got to tell you what a state I'm in
I've got to tell you in my loudest tones
That I started looking for a warning sign

When the truth is
I miss you
Yeah the truth is
That I miss you so

And I'm tired
I should not have let you go

So I crawl back into your open arms
Yes I crawl back into your open arms
And I crawl back into your open arms
Yes I crawl back into your open arms
Who cares where we go on this rugged old road- in a world that may say that we're wrong?

I would like to suggest "Spiritual", by Pat Methaney and Charlie Hayden from their album "Beyond the Missouri Sky". This is the tune that Annie Proulx listened to over and over as she wrote the "dozy embrace" scene in Brokeback Mountain. That alone should make it required listening.

I love this piece so much.  I think it may be on the BBM Radio playlist already?

Howdy Everyone,

If you have a song you think pertains to Brokeback Mountain, and would like to suggest that it be added to the playlist, please PM me the title and artist, and also tell me in your own words why you would like the song added to the playlist.

I will also be going through all the threads here on Bettermost that deal with music (i.e. the "New Music" thread Front Ranger mentions above, and the "Song that makes me think of Brokeback Mountain" threads), and looking for and adding songs mentioned if they are appropriate.

 :D

I've got a song I can't get out of my mind. It's the theme song from "Grizzly Man." You have other songs on that soundtrack playing so would you consider adding that one? The chorus goes,

Oo yip! Oooh yip, ooh!
Oo yip! ooh yip, ooh...

Know the one I mean??

ok this one does have 'girl' in it once but I love it...think it fits BBM very well...

The Cowboy in Me by Tim McGraw

I dont know why I act the way I do
Like I aint got a single thing to lose
Sometimes Im my own worst enemy
I guess thats just the cowboy in me

I got a life that most would love to have
But sometimes I still wake up fightin mad
At where this road Im heading down might lead
I guess thats just the cowboy in me

The urge to run, the restlessness
The heart of stone I sometimes get
The things Ive done for foolish pride
The me thats never satisfied
The face thats in the mirror when I dont like what I see
I guess thats just the cowboy in me

The urge to run, the restlessness
The heart of stone I sometimes get
The things Ive done for foolish pride
The me thats never satisfied
The face thats in the mirror when I dont like what I see
I guess thats just the cowboy in me

Girl I know theres times you must have thought
There aint a line youve drawn I havent crossed
But you set your mind to see this love on through
I guess thats just the cowboy in you

We ride and never worry about the fall
I guess thats just the cowboy in us all

Is the BBM Radio moderator listening?  ;)

I have listened to the type of music that is played on BBM radio and I definitely recommend three songs by KD Lang (Hymns of the 49th parallel I think the album is called) that are so, so extremely beatiful and so appropriate for BBM radio!

The songs are:

The Valley
Love is everything
A Case of You

Also, two songs by Gordon Lightfoot

Can't depend on love (this is Ennis' song and is the only song along with Shadows that is able to make me cry)
Shadows

Also, Alison Krauss and one song in particular:

Stay

I have all of these as mp3 files and would be more than happy to send them to you!

That song from "Grizzly Man" is called "Coyotes" (by Bob McDill), performed by Don Edwards.

I will also PM you with this info.

Theme from 'Twin Peaks'; it's very beautiful and has a rustic sound.
