Have Changes Slowed Down the Site?
« on: April 02, 2006, 12:04:49 pm »
I increased substantially the number of message replies appearing on each page of the forum.  Please let me know if this has significantly slowed down the forum.  If it has, I'll have to scale back this feature a little bit.

Yes, quite a bit.  I'd rather have speed over a lot of things.  Thanks for asking, Phillip.  If I may be so bold, I'm sticky-ing this thread for a bit.  Folks, please reply to this, so Phillip can know.

Hi Phil,
I also noticed the slowdown, and I would prefer the old pace back.  Thank you for asking,  and thank you also for the fanfiction forum, tell ya what, thank you for everything here.

I'm not noticying any change in speed.. but I might be late for the whole thing..

One other thing - many times when I log in I have to put my password twice. It often does not work the first time.

Any one else experiencing this?  And I'm not mis-typing my password!  ;D I'm being extra careful and still, I have to do it twice almost every time.. Or is the log-in name case specific?

The more posts per page thang is working beautifully for me.

Much more convenient.

Well, that's my .02 cents.   ;D

That has happened to me a few times.  I am not sure what is causing it.  You can avoid having to log in at all if you set your session length at forever at the login screen and then just avoid clicking the "Logout" link on your way out.

I never noticed any slowdown.  No password troubles yet here.
