and I do want to hear more about that elephant riding!  
Well, that wasn't really a Brokie event.  I went to the Topsfield Fair with my sister, and we rode Beulah the elephant.  Topsfield Fair is one of those old-fashioned county fairs, with prizes given for the best rooster, best squash, biggest sunflower, etc.  The real attraction is the region's largest pumpkin:  over 1400 pounds!  There's also a petting zoo and other wildlife displays.  Even a rodeo!  
There were craft huts, with a real blacksmith, leather-workers, woodworkers and their lathes. Also the typical midway games and vomit-inducing rides.  There was a large selection of cowboy hats for sale, as well.  All manner of junk food too.
Being an elephant nut, I especially enjoyed a little ride with Beulah, who is now 41 years old.  I think she remembered me from 6 years ago.
