The packed audience at
Warner Bros. and
Legendary Entertainment's Saturday (July 14) panel at
Comic-Con was already flying high after sneak peeks at upcoming films
"Pacific Rim" and
"Godzilla," so director
Zack Snyder's presentation of new
"Man of Steel" footage sent fans through the roof.
The movie's star
Henry Cavill also made a surprise appearance, telling the audience, "It's a dream come true" to play
Superman.
The clip screened at the panel shows only flashes of the film, including images of a young
Clark Kent and Cavill in full Superman attire, as well as
Amy Adams as
Lois Lane and
Russell Crowe as
Jor'El. We also see a shirtless Clark Kent on fire and Superman crashing into a bank vault.
Snyder tells fans that "Man of Steel" will show a more relatable Superman than previous iterations, which he says depicted the superhero as "a big blue Boy Scout up on the throne."
