Happy 2021 brian! I have lots of special things to eat...too many things! Fortunately, I can continue to celebrate all weekend too.

Like what? You inspired me with your mention of black-eyed peas. So I'm making that and collard greens tomorrow.

I also have a Manhattan strip roast, with fingerling potatoes and haricots verts. That would be fancy, but in the meantime I have most of a roast chicken (purchased pre-roasted at the store), and I want to make broth for the beans. So I was thinking of making quesadillas with the chicken, cheese, black beans, onions, poblano, corn and a sprinkling of pico de gallo.

For tonight, it's oysters and trout roe.  Followed by spanakopita, then Joey's bourbon fruitcake.

Since I had to work today, I'll do my Beef Wellington tomorrow, with foie gras and sauternes.

Pasta for supper (my mother's mac and cheese en casserole) with a steak and gravy, and a salad, then a movie (I'm thinking Close Encounters of the Third Kind, but that's not yet settled), and scotch.

That's exactly what I did, the mac and cheese, Close Encounters, and today pork and sauerkraut with mashed potatoes.

I wish us all health and happiness.

I wish for an end to the pandemic and a return in some form to life as we know it.

I wish us peace of mind, and reduced stress.

I wish us all success, in however we view it.

I wish us all self-respect, self-confidence, and self-love.

That's lovely wishes, thank you and right back a you :)

The hubby and I spend the night alone, just the two of us. The kids were at small parties with their respective friends. In Germany, there's a Corona mandate saying a gathering is only allowed with a maximum of 10 people, if everyone is fully vaccinated. For unvaccinated persons it's one household plus two others max.

Anyway, the hubby and I had too much of our cheese fondue and a little too much wine. After dinner, we fell in a food coma on the couch and were knocked out for a while . We woke sometimes between 11pm and midnight however, so we didn't miss New Year's. O0

Dinner for One?

Well, I had my "dinner for one," steak, pasta, and salad, with cake for dessert, followed by watching Moonstruck.

(I was pissed off at not being able to hang with friends because the Usual Watering Hole is closed because someone in the kitchen staff and one of the bartenders tested positive. I needed to tell myself to "Snap out of it!"  ;D  )
