Some girls might do this (pick up or be picked up in 5 minutes) but I think most women are heavily socialised against acting this way for a range of reasons.

I was thinking the same thing. :) Some parts seem so simple... no need to worry "will he still respect me in the morning" ;D
Also, maybe I'm thinking too much like a girl, but the scene where Nick picked up the big, burly lumberyard owner, and follows him into his abandoned warehouse really freaked my out. I was really afraid for Nick's safety.
That big lumberyard guy could be rapist, or a serial killer....
Maybe Nick wasn't afraid because he's a guy and think he can look after himself, still, that seemed sooo reckless to me.

Good god, I go to bed because it's quiet around here, and you all descend and write up a storm of analysis!
I should go to bed earlier so the elves can come out!
I am just waking up, looking for my followups on jobs today (it's Monday after all) and will be doing some writing a bit later. Don't forget to post your favorite quotes from the chapters 36-40 on the E & E thread!

This is amazing. How do you manage a chapter so early! Not that I'm complaining.

I had nightmares, I woke up early.
