I guarantee they are clueless about it, John.  The only mother they acknowledge is the red plush "snuggy" my roommate got for Christmas.  They love to "make biscuits" on it.  ;D

Here's Artie and "Mom" --

I have the same, also in red and it is also Cäsar's favorite of all blankets/throws!
I don't know what "make biscuits on it" means, but my Cäsar loves to hump it! ::)
He has a serious love-affair with it, and the great goddess may have mercy with everyone who covers their legs with it. Humping a leg clad in red plush is his favorite thing ever!
The little pervert ;)

There. He can be nice with it. Taking a nap after humping, that is. ;D

Oh yes. I should have known when Meryl referred to the blankie as "Mom".
Cäsar does that, too. I guess every cat does. It's so cute (as long as they don't do it on your lap; those sharp claws aren't fun).

Thanks for explaining, John! :)

"Making Biscuits," is a residual behavior left from nursing.  They do that when trying to get the milk to
come down, making it easier to nurse.  Once they are weaned many cats still retain that function, in order
to calm themselves or make themselves feel comfort as if they were with the mother.

I hadn't heard that expression either. But since starting maternity leave Skimble has done this every morning to wake me up! No long lies for me!
