Hmm, I posted elsewhere that I thought there was a lot more country music in the extended playlist. Now I think there is more AOR/soft rock ballad-y type tracks. I guess this is because the subject matter lends itself to that type of song, specifically the lyrics. I tend not to be keen on these tracks when listening to the radio as a background activity as I tend naturally to hear the music more than the lyrics themselves when listening in that manner & in this type of track, I see the music as more of a backing to often quite long & involved lyrics & I can't pick out the lyrics themselves, other than to just hear an emotive voice going on & on! Now that's not to diss any of this tracks, as no doubt the lyrics are very meaningful. In some cases the lyrics are more punchy & the music compliments them very well. Some work for me, in general the majority do not.
I was struck that you had included an option in your poll for not hearing your favourites so often. While that is true, it makes it all the more of a nice surprise when one pops up! Also if I like a track that much then I will make an effort to make sure I have it in my personal collection for anytime access.
My all-time BBM radio fave artiste is EmmyLou Harris, particularly the tracks
Goodbye &
Pledging My Love . & to even it up, my fave track from a male is Steve Earle
Lonelier than than this (Ennis encapsulated in song-form!). & finally in the interests of completeness, fave instrumentals are anything by Gustav Santaolalla or Bruce Kaphan's slide guitar stuff. Oh, & the amazing ambient soundscapes of Hammock. Never before BBM would I have encountered any of these. Thanks for widening my aural horizons BBM & BBM radio
