Hey Buds!

WOW!  The party's really hopping here at CT!  Dessert is always exciting, isn't it!  :D

So, some of you many know that I'm sorta well-known for my birthday cakes around here.  So, for my dessert contribution I'm going to post my all-time favorite cowboy cake that I've found so far in my prowling of the internet.  I've posted this very occasionally on special birthday threads.  But, tonight feels like a night for an encore.  And, as you see, there's way more than enough of this enormous cake for everyone to share.

:)

Oooooo!  does this open house have an open bar?    :D

Cowboy, they are serving whatever you want to drink. The more exotic the better! No one has ordered a side car yet.....

Amanda, that cake is just what the sheriff ordered!  I'd love a slice, though it's a shame to cut it, it's so purty.  ;D

Mini, rumaki are water chestnuts wrapped in bacon and broiled til nice and crispy.  They're yummy!  :P

What's rumaki? Will I die if I eat/drink it/them? I'll try anything once.

They are fabulous. Lazy L Jack makes them all the time. Who is Lazy L Jack you say? Meet him here...

As for the rumaki recipe...it is in the Joy of Cooking. Let me see if I can dig it up....

Jack's recipe has chicken livers with the water chestnuts.

Some folks substitute scallops.

No matter how you make em, they are delicious!

Okay I'll have a couple of them, thanks. And I'll wash them down with a gin and tonic, go easy on the tonic. Hic!

WARNING!!!  NOT a DESSERT!!!

All this talk of fried Oreos reminds me of a food item I experienced for the first time in Cheyenne, WY at a restaurant with Clarissa, Katherine and Lynne during the BBQ weekend.

FRIED PICKLES!!!.... and they were good too!  :D
