Wildcard "X" is Day for Night (1973)

Francois Truffaut plays the Director in this film that he also directed.

La Nuit américaine is a 1973 French film directed by François Truffaut. It stars Jacqueline Bisset and Jean-Pierre Léaud. In French, La Nuit Américaine ('The American Night') is a technical process whereby sequences shot during the daytime are made to appear as if they are taking place at night. In the English-speaking world the film is known as Day for Night, which is the equivalent English expression.

The film is often considered one of Truffaut's greatest films, and indeed one of the best films ever made: for example, it is one of two Truffaut films that feature on Time magazine top 100 list of the 100 Best Films of the Century, along with The 400 Blows.

That was a fun round and easier than I expected! We had an impressive list of occupations, too:

artist, adult film entertainer, cartoonist, doctor (and fashion magazine editor), exorcist, football coach, grumpy meteorologist, headmaster, insurance investigator, judge, knight, law student, matchmaking sister, nurse, outlaw, politician, queen, roustabout, soldier, time traveler, undertaker, valet, warlock,  director (wildcard X) and zen master.

As I said, the suggestion for that round came from Ellemeno, with an additional suggestion from oillgun. Thanks, folks! I welcome ideas for special rounds so please send them my way.

For those who are interested I modified Adult Film Star into a "B" occupation.

I just realized that in the last round we left out Y, so without further ado...

Red Skelton plays a Yellow Cab driver in The Yellow Cab Man.
