What's up with The Amazing Race??? I haven't heard anything about it coming back this fall. Surely CBS didn't cancel it too although I wouldn't be surprised with all the other shows they have cancelled.......to save money supposedly.

It starts on September 26th Jack. They're going to announce the cast just after labour day apparently.

I'll be in NYC then so I'm excited about that! I'll see TAR in the US!!!

That's wonderful news Kelda!! I was told it wasn't airing again until January. September sounds MUCH better to me! And September 26th is just a day after my birthday! So that's a nice birthday present. 8) 8)

That's really nice how you'll be able to see the show in the US. Although, I think it probably looks the same on American televisions as it does on British televisions. Most of the commercials will probably be different though. ;) ;D

One of us should probably remember to start a new poll when the show starts. I think we forgot to do it the last time. :)

How terrible is this that I am only now posting in this thread!

Life has been hectic and so I've been watching the TAR programmes and running, not posting! This year I can't access the extra videos on CBS and YouTube as they are only available to American IP addresses so I haven't seen all the extras and so dont have much juicy gossip.... boo to CBS for doing that!

But I really like Mallory and Gary (father and daughter) and the 2 Shopping Channel Girls. I also liked Kevin and his Dad who were eliminated last night... Kevin;s fault after thinking his dad had done the team in. When will people remeber to read the clues!?

Oh and the demo of Phil at the Roadblock. HEEEEEE!!!

Dumbest team - and clearly not fans are the tattooed couple - who didn't even know that the Fast Forward could only be taken once or what "Fast Forward taken" meant on the sign.... grrrr... at least watch a season or two if you're cast on it so you know what you're letting yourself in for.

Also - I had a fab time watching the opening epsiode of this season of TAR with Meryl and Brian in Meryl's lovely apartment - thanks Meryl!

Brian are you still watching?

Also, I wondered in the last episode why the tattooed folk didn't do a speed bump... this is why.....

Quote
"There was a production glitch during last week’s leg that lead to numerous time delays for several of the racers, and in the interest of fairness, the producers decided at the end of last week’s leg that Nick & Vicki would not have to perform a speed bump for this week’s episode. We take fairness very seriously on the show, so that’s why they had to make that decision, once they realized there was a production glitch, we are going to start with no speed bump for [Nick & Vicki]."

Apparently, Nick posted on his Facebook that they didn't get a Speedbump because there was an error last episode where Nick and Vicki got the songs right way earlier, but the judge said no to them. So, they weren't given a speedbump...Its unconfirmed though but the above seems to sugest this is true.

Kelda, it's good to see you posting about TAR again!  :)

I agree that Nick and Vicki aren't the brightest bulbs.  Where do they get these folks?  You'd think they'd at least watched some of the shows.  Interesting about the lack of a speed bump.  I didn't even notice they'd gotten off without one.

I was surprised that Claire and the other gal didn't mention the upcoming penalty to Kevin and his Dad.  Is there a rule about this?  At any rate, it was only a matter of time before they were gone.  The Dad is just not physically up to the challenges ahead, I think.

It seems to me there are more likeable teams this time around.  In addition to the shopping network team, I also like Gary and Mallory and Nat and Kat.

Yep - its always a 30 minute penalty for not following the clues properly and in previous seasons they also added the time saved - so if taking the taxi took 5 minutes and walking would on average take 15 they would get (15-5 = 10 minutes plus 30 minutes = 40 minutes)

But there is no rule to say the girls would have had to tell Kevin and his dad. From a "this is a game and we need to outperormn other teams" point of view, they were smart not to tell them, but if I had been in that position and got on with kevin and his dad,  I think I may fter reading the clue and learning the pit stop was really near by - so no chance of getting lost and kevin and his dad skipping past them - and I knew his dad was struggling witht he task and would take some time to finish it, I may have told them.

Kudos to the girls for doubling back, repeating a section of the task and STILL finishing in second place.
