"Wings" (1927)

I think you are referring to this post of Twisted Dudes. She has quite a wonderful collection, doesn't she? I will PM her to provide more information.

Time out: "Wings" (1927): "In the early days of film, men were often (oh yeah?) shown being tender with eachother. But as an understanding of homosexualiy developed (someone didn't undertand it?)...---"The celluloid Closet." (great film).

These two men are both in love with the same gilrl (in the movie), and were bitter enemies. Then they go off to war, and become the best of friends. The dialogue that accompanis the scenes is "Nothing is so important to me as your friendship" "I knew it...I always knew it." And yes, Jack ksses David---but just misses his mouth by a fraction of an inch. (the plot, the characters, the actors and the diirector are alll incredibly straight). It's all very well tio say "in the rarly days of film...etc." but as far as I have seen, there is NO omparable scene! It reall knocks your socks off.

The scene is used on the center of the disc of "The Celluloid Closet." Apparently, it knocked their socks off, too. (TCC is a history of gay people in film, from 1895 to asbout 1995...wonderful scenes, commentary, etc. Well worth it---(amazon.com)  Too bad it wan't made in..2007!

I'm adding a pictrure to this, to keep th game going.

The orange sun lights up the evening sky
I sit alone in these fields, time passes me by..
All is quiet, but for the cry of a flying magpie
I lay me down some more and heave a happy sigh...

Why do they dress up the ice-cream so? I don't need all those fancy leaves & flowers & fancy ice cream glass - just give me the food!
