This intimate little gem is my favorite song from Beck's recent Guero album. Needless to say, I was attracted by the "we'll shoot our guns" imagery  ;) , but the song also has slide guitar (I'm a sucker for it) and a very slow beat, like the BBM music.

"Broken Drum"

I see you there
your long black hair
your eyes just stare
your mind is turning

you know I'll laugh
and I won't take it back
I've seen your eyes I know
what you're thinking

and one by one
we'll shoot our guns
we'll have our fun
don't ever doubt it

and when I say
fare thee well
my only friend
oh how the days go

your setting sun
your broken drum
your little drugs

I'll never forget you

never

forget

          you

That is beautiful, Belkgianboy. I also wanted to say that I have corrected some of the English words in "Confiderntiel," which I got straight from someone who speaks French and Germasn fluently, snd sent my a good German translation---my English translastion came from Google, and wasn't too hot...with her , I was able to make a better English one. Hope THAT makes sense...

Suzanne--Leonard Cohen

Suzanne takes you down to a place by the river
You can hear the boats go by
You can spend the night forever
And you know that she's half crazy
And that's why you want to be there
And she feeds you tea and oranges
That come all the way from China
And just when you want to tell her
That you have no love to give her
She gets you on her wavelength
And she lets the river answer
That you've always been her lover
And you want to travel with her
And you want to travel blind
And you think you'll maybe trust her
For you've touched her perfect body with your mind.

And Jesus was a sailor
When he walked upon the water
And he spent a long time watching
From his lonely wooden tower
And when he knew for certain
Only drowning men could see him
He said "All men shall be sailors then
Until the sea shall free them"
But he himself was broken
Long before the sky would open
Forsaken, almost human
He sank beneath your wisdom like a stone
And you want to travel with him
And you want to travel blind
And you think you'll maybe trust him
For he's touched your perfect body with his mind.

Suzanne takes you down to a place by the river
You can hear the boats go by
You can spend the night forever
And the sun pours down like honey
On our lady of the harbour
And she shows you where to look
Amid the garbage and the flowers
There are heroes in the seaweed
There are children in the morning
They are leaning out for love
And they will lean that way forever
While Suzanne holds the mirror
And you want to travel with her
And you want to travel blind
And you think maybe you'll trust her
For she's touched your perfect body with her mind.

There's a young man that I know,
his age is 21
Comes from down in southern Colorado
Just out of the service,
he's lookin' for his fun
Someday soon, goin with him
someday soon.

 My parents cannot stand him
'cause he rides the rodeo
My father says that he will leave me cryin'
I would follow him right down
 the roughest road I know.
Someday soon, goin' with him,
someday soon.

Siongs older'n you, but younger'n ME..

ROBBIE WILLIAMS LYRICS

"Every Time We Say Goodbye"

Everytime we say goodbye
I die a little
Everytime we say goodbye
I wonder why a little
Why the gods above me
Who must be in the know
Think so little of me
They allow you to go

When you're near
There's such an air
Of spring about it
I can hear a lark somewhere
Begin to sing about it
There's no love song finer
But how strange the change
From major to minor
Everytime we say goodbye

There's no love song finer
But how strange the change
From major to minor
Everytime we say goodbye

What's the Use of Wonderin'

What's the use of wonderin'
if he's good or if he's bad
or if you like the way he wears his hat?
What's the use of wonderin
if he's good or if he's bad:
He's your feller and you love him,
that's all there is to that.

Common sense may tell you
that the ending will be sad
and now's the time to break and run away;
what's the use of wonderin
if the ending will be sad;
he's your feller and you love him
there's nothing more to say.

Something
made him the way that he is,
whether he's false or true.
And something
gave him the things that are his,
One of those things is you--

So if he wants your ksses
you'll give them to the lad,
and anywhere he leads you, you will walk,
and any time he needs you
you'll go runnin' there like mad;
he's your feller and you love him
and all the rest in talk.

There are so many, in all types of music,

but some that really made me think of Ennis and Jack are:

1.  "What Hurts The Most" by Rascal Flatts (Ennis' regrets)
2.  "A Thousand Miles From Nowhere" by Dwight Yoakam (when E turns J away after the divorce and J goes to Mexico)
3.  "My Old Friend" by Tim McGraw (Ennis thinking back on his relationship with Jack years later)
4.  "Settle for a Slowdown" by Dierks Bentley (when E&J part ways after that first summer on Brokeback)
5.  "To Be With You" the Mavericks (reminds me of the first postcard from Jack)

Bad Company: "Feel Like Makin' Love"

Baby, when I think about you
I think about love
Darlin, dont live without you
And your love
If I had those golden dreams
Of my yesterdays
I would wrap you in the heaven
till Im dyin on the way

Feel like makin
Feel like makin love
Feel like makin love to you

Baby, if I think about you
I think about love
Darlin if I live without you
I live without love
If I had the sun and moon
I would give you both night and day
Of satisfyn

Feel like makin
Feel like makinlove
Feel like makin love to you

And if I had those golden dreams
Of my yesterdays
I would wrap you in the heaven
til Im dyin on the way

Feel like makin love
Feel like makin love
(repeat many times)
Feel like makin love to you
"It was only you in my life, and it will always be only you, Jack, I swear."

Being a professional singer, this time of year means that I do plenty
of running around to take advantage of the opportunities to sing for
pay. There are parties, concerts, caroling through streets and malls,
and of course church services. It can easily become drudgery, and feel
too much like work--you know: “another day, another dollar.” And that
feeling can creep in and sometimes take the joy out of the season and
spoil Christmas. It even happens to me sometimes, but I try to stay
connected to the messages and sentiments of the text and music that I
sing. There is a great deal of meaning to be found in Christmas music.

There is one number that sticks out from among the stack of music that
I have to sing this Christmas. From the very first time I sang through
it, I thought of Ennis spending that first Christmas alone after Jack
had left this world. I also thought about the amazing comfort that
having faith can offer in a time of sadness and pain. Below are the
lyrics and a link to video of the song being performed by a college choir.

CAROL OF JOY

Lyrics by Eileen Berry
Music by Dan Forrest

Green leaves are fallen, withered and dry;
Brief sunset fading, dim winter sky;
Lengthening shadows, dark closing in;
Then through the stillness, carols begin.

O fallen world, to you is the song!
Death holds you fast, and night tarries long.
Jesus is born, your curse to destroy;
Sweet to your ears, a carol of joy!

Pale moon ascending, solemn and slow;
Cold, barren hillside shrouded in snow.
Deep empty valley, veiled by the night;
Hear angel music,
Hear angels hopeful and bright.

O fearful world, to you is the song!
Peace with your God, and pardon for wrong.
Tidings for sinners, burdened and bound,
A carol of joy, a Savior is found!

Earth wrapped in sorrow, lift up your eyes,
Thrill to the chorus filling the skies.
Look up sad-hearted!
Witness God’s love;
Join in the carol swelling above!

O friendless world, to you is the song!
All heaven’s joy to you may belong!
You who are lonely, laden, forlorn;
O fallen world,
O fearful world,
O friendless world,
Now unto you a Savior is born!

Wishing you all a joyous Christmas and a prosperous New Year!!

Milo

That is a beautiful song, milo.... Thank you for sharing it with us! This song reminds me that maybe Jesus was gay...That is not such a far fetched idea. In native American cultures, gay people were venerated for their unique outlook, and they were thought to be a blending of the feminine and the masculine. Jesus had the best qualities of both worlds as well.
