Well it is my opinion that several European teams including Holland and France had very slow performances on the field. France is in bigger trouble right now, after it was not able to break a streak of ties.

Giancarlo,  please say something positive about Holland! Did you see anything good? I think you know much more about this than I do,  and I would  really love to see Holland win this time!

Do they have any hope at all? ???

"Only 11% of Americans say they plan on watching any World Cup soccer games on television.  Of those who say they will watch, 56% didn't know the games were being played in Germany"

Thanks for posting those pictures Pipedream! Actually some of those costumes and face paintings are quite beautiful. They must have spent many hours putting all of that together.

Those pictures also remind me of Mardi Gras in New Orleans! I sure wish I was in Munich right now. It looks like a lot of fun! :D

That's a terrible shame. The 11% who plan on watching  it really doesn't surprise me for two reasons. Soccer is still gaining popularity in this country (it still has a ways to go, but at least it IS catching on) and also because most of the American television channels are airing very little of the World Cup.

The other thing you mentioned: 56% of Americans didn't know it was being played in Germany... well that is just terrible. This tells me many people are just not paying an attention to it at all. It really shouldn't matter if a person likes soccer or not. It is a world event, and this alone should be enough to make people pay at least a little attention to it. Or at the very least, know what country it is being played in.

That is just my opinion though.

Okay some things.. they are gonna go to the next round, but they are in the same group as Argentina. That might be a huge problem.

http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/06/en/w/schedule.html

They play in two days against Argentina... even if they lose they are still qualified. Okay, lets say they get to the next round. They play against Argentina again... and that is where I don't think they would make it.

BTW, I must compliment Tunisia on their solid defense.
