I don't never give it no thought!   

... if you download digital pic to Yahoo Pics, or Flicker or something like Webshots then use them on Bettermost, they come out smaller, for me at least.... Try that,

To reduce picture size (before I place em in photobucket), I use a program on my computer called HP photosmart premier. Don't know if it's a common program, or if this program's part of my printer's options (my printer's HP) but that's how I reduce or manipulate my digital camera's pictures. This help any?

i reduce by using the microsoft paint.

Open photo on that.

Go to image--> strech/skew--> at stretch i type in normally around 50% in each and it reduce the size of the photo dramatically and makes it smaller to look at but also the file size smaller.
