if it wasn't for the fact that I had my own original story and original character in mind from the beginning, rewriting the Laramie Saga into the original stories they were would not have been possible after NBC's lawyer sent me their cease and desist letter.  The fact that it is a Moving On! story is what saved it in the long run.  But it took nearly a week to get all of the content off the internet in compliance with the order.

And hey, hi! Souxi, haven't seen you in a dog's age!  I'm finishing up #26 in the series now! I write slower nowadays

With regards to her having to remove the stories for legal reasons...how did that happen? How did they find out and how can we protect ourselves?

Kitty, I wouldn´t worry if I were you. Thousands of Brokeback Mountain fan fics have been written without anyone taking notice. The few (a couple?)stories that were targeted were high-profile pieces that were written early on in the fandom.

Well, that's something. My stories are well-received over on LJ but they're not high-profile. I guess that's not such a bad thing after all!

Is that why Beans and Crazies is no longer on there? I got a Word document from a friend who was around in the early days and they said it was taken off LJ
