Chapter 23 is up at http://talkstocoyotes.livejournal.com/7306.html .  I'll do my best to get Chapter 24 finished as soon as possible.  Sorry about the long gaps between postings, the chapters seem to have decided on a timetable all its own.  This and Chapter 24 center around the progress of Ennis' and David's relationship.  Ennis will move into still more uncharted territory after that, and hopefully these chapters won't take as long as this one.

Here are some photos of various parts of the Park Point trail, and more pictures can be found at http://www.duluthbudgeteer.com/photography/includes/gallery.cfm?id=29&forumcomm_check_return

Thanks to everyone reading for their patience!    :)

The beach and dune portions of the trail, with beachgoers' "driftwood art"

The trail's forested section, including a straightaway occasionally used for cross-country skiing during the winter

Great news!  And thanks for the wonderful pictures.   :)

Chapter 24 is up, at http://talkstocoyotes.livejournal.com/7646.html   With one notable exception, this chapter focuses on Ennis learning a little more about David’s background. I know this story has been moving very slowly, partly because I've been slow about updating; but this chapter pretty much finishes laying the groundwork for Ennis' and David's relationship.

Rose Hill's history, including its odd double identity as cemetery and city park, can be found at http://gagen.i-found-it.net/rosehill.html as well as the Wikipedia entry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rose_Hill_Cemetery_(Georgia) The cemetery has a website at http://rosehillcemetery.org/

Some photos:

This setting will look familiar to fans of the Allman Brothers Band – it was featured on the cover of their first album.

The site of Nathan’s painting actually exists in Rose Hill and I have visited it several times. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to locate a photograph of it.

Fast or slow, I like the direction you're going!

I love this story. I was really moved reading about the shirts. This is a story to be savoured, like good wine!  :) Thank you for your update, and the pictures.

Chapter 25 is up, at http://talkstocoyotes.livejournal.com/7723.html

Ennis and David finally kiss -- after 25 chapters, but only a year in the plotline. Actually pretty fast progress for Ennis.

I really really enjoyed this chapter. Ennis really it taking the plunge isn't he? I loved their first kiss. Gorgeous writing.

I've received mail asking if this fic is still in progress, and it definitely is!  The latest chapter was just a bear to write -- it was my first attempt at chitchat dialogue with several people involved, and was a lot harder than I'd thought. That and some personal things that needed, and still need, my attention resulted in it taking forever to write.

The next chapters are partially written, and in fact there are drafts for several later chapters so the next updates shouldn't take as long.  This one was long enough that LiveJournal made me divide it into two parts.  For people who've been asking if Ennis' and David's relationship is ever going to progress, that starts with the next chapter.  This one introduces a number of characters who will appear again later -- some in only a scene or two -- as well as some of the conflicts that are going to come up.

I'll be posting pictures on my blog from here on out, but that probably won't be till tomorrow.

I reread then entire story so far over the past few nights. It really flows well and feels very organic. Nothing seems forced, Ennis's and David's relationship is developing at it's own pace and seems very natural. I'm looking forward to when they finally..... ;D.

That won't be long -- within the next two chapters, part of which is already written -- though there'll be a last-minute snag and some revelations (in the story, that is!  ;) ).  If you haven't seen them already, there are photos of Grandma's Saloon in my blog -- it's somewhat important to local history as a de facto community center. That often happens with redevelopment in urban neighborhoods; in Atlanta, it was a place called Manuel's Tavern.

Thanks for reading!
