OMG I saw this movie last night, and brother let me tell you, the world needs to see this gem.

I cannot understand how it slipped in under the radar. I read some reviews about it that were not favorable as to the acting. I don't know what those people were smoking. I thought the acting and the story was just brilliant.

Not to give anything away you can't already surmise from the trailer, it is a story of a group of men, one in particular, who later on in life have to deal with a gay bashing they perpetrated on a friend of theirs. The story slowly unfolds from minimal flash backs and there is more emphasis on how they have turned out, each of them dealing with their remorse while their lives are impacted in ways they can explain to no one else.

The ending, is just too heartbreaking for words. I think this story will be with me for a long time.  :'(

And if you like jazz, you'll love the sound track. The producer says in the commentary that the soundtrack "informs the story" and I wondered if that term had ever been used to describe Brokeback, which it certainly does.

The way you describe it really makes me want to see it.
But apparently, it was never released outside of the US. :-\

Oh well, maybe it's a good thing I can't see it. Had that experience once. Got my heart ripped out by two guys, took me a long time to get over the heartbreak. Maybe you've heard of the movie.... ;)

"We could have had a good life together"

Yeah, that line from the trailer made me "Oh" too.

So, I watched "Handsome Harry" tonight.

Surely I'm jaded from Brokeback, because it didn't touch me deeply.  Although I appreciated the performances, especially from Aidan Quinn, and Campbell Scott is a wonder--of course he read our story on CD--it just didn't do it for me.

Maybe because the flashbacks were very sparse, I didn't get a sense of the earlier connection until the end.

Jamey Sheridan may be handsome, but his acting is a little flat, to me.

Funny, I thought "Handsome Harry" was a dumb title.  Then again, back in 2005, I thought "Brokeback Mountain" was a dumb title also!

I think this movie probably got made because of Brokeback, it seems to have some of the same themes.

One of the members on DCF (gattaca) sent me a copy of the dvd, I really enjoyed it, thought it was well done, and thought at the end when the one man was at the piano, it was heartbreaking for me.

Tell him when l come up to him and ask to play the record, l'm gonna say: ''Voulez-vous jouer ce disque?''
'Voulez-vous, will you kiss my dick?'
Will you play my record? One-track mind!

Here is a great opportunity, along the lines of finishing the story, to do some good:

Please take a few minutes to follow the link and read about this worthy project to document one lost uncle's story, I'm making a donation:
