NO BIG SPOILERS!!

At the end of the last show, Mrs. Hughes began singing "Auld Lang Syne" as was appropriate for her since she plays a Scottish person. I got all teary as I usually do when I hear that song. It made me want to come to BetterMost and listen to the version that friend Paul posted on the New Year's Eve thread. Then, it hit me. BetterMost IS my Downton Abbey! A place of refuge where people who care about each other share their deepest thoughts and details of their daily lives, the human tragedies and joys, the jokes and pastimes. What a wonderful place we have here! Granted, the costumes are not always up to par, but at least we're comfortable!!

Tell him when l come up to him and ask to play the record, l'm gonna say: ''Voulez-vous jouer ce disque?''
'Voulez-vous, will you kiss my dick?'
Will you play my record? One-track mind!

I see you as Tom Branson, Chuck. A facilitator and peacemaker. And as for Violet and her droll quips, Mr. Wrangler comes to mind!

Me, I see myself as Edith, always with a crisis or tragedy to complain about but with, (I hope), a happy ending.  :)

Well, thank you, my dear. I take that as a compliment, but no way am I as witty as the Dowager.

http://www.bbcamerica.com/anglophenia/2016/03/idris-elba-ben-whishaw-among-bafta-tv-award-nominations

There was disappointment however for a certain rather well-known British TV show. Downton Abbey received no nominations at all, despite it being the final year in which it was eligible, and one of its stars, Hugh Bonneville, scoring a nomination for Best Male Performance in a Comedy Program for his role in spoof documentary W1A.

It’s not the first time the drama juggernaut has been snubbed. Downton Abbey has never won a BAFTA TV award, despite it being one of the U.K.’s biggest shows and one of the forerunners of the recent British invasion of U.S. TV.

That invasion is showing no signs of slowing down. For a heads up on the next big shows to hit our shores, check out the full list of nominations on Deadline.

Downton Abbey received no nominations at all,

This simply underscores the irrelevance of such industry awards.

This simply underscores the irrelevance of such industry awards.

It often seems that only mainstream shows get the 'nods' when it comes  to awards.

I know that the past two years, fans of The Walking Dead have wondered when Melissa McBride will get a best actress nom, it  never happens.   She  is unquestionably the best actress on the show, and has gone through the most interesting story arc.
