arts board sensitivity
« on: June 12, 2012, 10:06:32 am »
The Minnesota State Arts Board, at least, is sensitive. I was filling out a form, and came to this:

Gender (optional)

-- Female

-- Male

-- Other

Not only do they recognize the existence of "other," but it's also one of the very few places I've seen "female" listed before "male" on something like this. Imagine seeing this 20 or even 10 years ago.

Good for you, and also good that you're participating in the arts board!!

On a related note, I'm reading Jeffrey Eugenides' book Middlesex now. It's very well written!

I also like that they stated your answering it was optional.  In the perfect future world, labels, sexes, colors, creeds won't matter.  Right?   :D
