It is absollutely fantastic that Hugh has been chosen to host the Oscars.

There is not doubt in my mind that it will be entertainment Plus, as well as good humour and CLASS CLASS CLASS....

As an Australian I am very very proud of him....he is a wonderful ambassador for our country and for the entertainment industry.

I've read they will change the format of the Oscars for him.  He's not a comedian, so they're going to get rid of the opening monologue.  I imagine it will be like a variety show, some jokes, some singing and dancing from him.  Though that isn't necessarily a good sign - somewhat like that infamous Oscars where Rob Lowe danced with Snow White.  I saw when Hugh hosted - was it the Tonys? - he was handsome, charming; he danced, he sang, he embarrassed Sarah Jessica Parker and er, he wasn't that great...I wasn't impressed much with either his singing or dancing.

I'm just saying...

I kinda hope he neither sings nor dances; that's OK for Broadway, but doesn't have much to do with the Oscars.  Unless he does one of those awful Billy Crystal era medleys.

       Well I have to say that I love him in Australia.  He owned it.,,,  Having said that however,
I keep thinking back to Laughlin, his short lived show earlier in the year..  To say that was
awful, would be generous..  I just don't want him to embarress himself like that..  again.

Lets hope we just see the real everyday guy that Hugh is, and he is not compelled to get into all the false Oscar hype that often goes on with these award shows.

Why not? He's a good singer and a good dancer. I think it would be great for the Oscars to think outside the box a little bit (maybe even a big bit!). The show is always the same old same old that instantly puts me to sleep. Maybe taking a page from Broadway's book and actually providing some entertainment to the viewers (and audience) would be a good thing.
