Hey, how about a Bro-Job?

More And More Straight Guys Are Giving Each Other “Bro-Jobs”

What is a “bro-job”?

In a nutshell, it’s when a straight guy gives another straight guy a blowie not in a meaningful sexual way but in a friendly, NSA, I’m-just-doing-you-a-little-favor, totally not gay sort of way. Or something.

Dr. Jane Ward writes about this not-so-new phenomenon in her book, Not Gay: Sex Between Straight White Men, published by NYU Press last month.  In the book, Ward poses the following question: “A straight white girl can kiss a girl, like it, and still call herself straight—her boyfriend may even encourage her. But can straight white guys experience the same easy sexual fluidity, or would kissing a guy just mean that they are really gay?”

Tell him when l come up to him and ask to play the record, l'm gonna say: ''Voulez-vous jouer ce disque?''
'Voulez-vous, will you kiss my dick?'
Will you play my record? One-track mind!

My knee-jerk reaction is that any "straight" guy who sucks dick is a little farther toward the homosexual end of the sexual orientation spectrum than he realizes, or maybe wants to admit.

But, it would be interesting to see what age group the author is discussing. I'll allow as it's possible that as homosexual becomes more mainstream, it's quite possible that attitudes and behaviors are changing.

But I still have a problem with any guy who sucks dick insisting that he's "totally straight."

I think this is about reporters stretching to cover a trend that is a non-trend. Young people have always explored the boundaries to figure out where they were comfortable.

Remember that scene in Shelter where the guy's straight friend finds out he is gay and says to him, "I've always heard gay guys give good head" ?

I really like that phrase.  Not sure why, but it seems so fitting.

Either Graham Gremore and Jane Ward never went to summer camp, or they're just trying to make a few $$ shocking people with the ordinary.

I don't think that's quite the same thing. Remember Ennis saying, "You know I ain't queer," after he butt-fucked Jack? Straight men can tell themselves they "ain't queer" when they're on the receiving end of oral sex or the active end of anal sex, I presume because in either activity they're not the one being penetrated.

And, yes, we do.  ;D  ;)

We have to understand that sexual orientation as a personal identity is a social construct that came about very recently in human history. Not everyone has an identity that is formed around their sexual orientation...or even includes sexual orientation. For many, sex is something you do, not something you are.

Agreed. Especially for many on the religio-conservative Right.

Its much more common than one might assume. Men love blow jobs many Woman dont like or are just not very good at giving them. I find a lot of married guys seeking other guys out for mutual play in that area. Not unusual at all IMO.

Perhaps the focus of this question needs to be torn out of the hands of straights.  Instead, define 'gay' as being indicated by whom you fall in love with, and only secondarily by whom you have sex with.  Gay men know that lots of men who self-identify as straight have sex with other men (MSM).  But ladies, you're never going to get your husband or boyfriend to admit it.  My advice about 'bro-jobs' is stay away from straight men in some futile hope that they will start feeling romantic about you.  You are just going to break your heart.
