It's a pretty old-fashioned word to express impatience or disbelief. I've never heard anyone use it unironically in my lifetime. But it may be an onomatopoeia of the sound people make nowadays to scoff.

I got those, but messed up a couple of others, although I'll have to admit they were legit. I was trying too hard for "kinds of printers," which I suppose is the trap they deliberately set.
