Those are all sports teams of some kind. Don't ask me what sports, although I think I could accurately guess two or three of them. And apparently those teams have won the most championships in their respective sports -- so for example, the New York Yankees must have won the most championships, meaning they won the big finale game of the season (in baseball, it's the World Series, in football, the Superbowl, and then whatever the equivalents are in basketball and hockey).

You didn't need to necessarily know the part about the championships to get it right, just recognize (as I did) that those are names of some kind of sports teams ... that, and probably be American.

According to my stats, I've played Wordle 561 times, which divided by five minutes equals 2,805 minutes or almost 47 hours. (And this doesn't count all my games, because some I've played on my phone, which Wordle thinks is a different person.)

Sonja, the sports teams are usually plural; for some reason, they presented the singular.

It's the Boston Celtics in basketball, the Montreal Canadiens in hockey, the Green Bay Packers in football and the NY Yankees in baseball. 

The trick I almost fell for was words from the song "Yankee Doodle", which include the words macaroni and feather.  But, the spelling of Canadien gave it away; it's the French-Canadian spelling, so it had to go with Yankee as a sports team.
