I've always liked tinsel, but we stopped using it when we got cats.  Mom had heard that the cats will try to eat it, and it could become an obstruction and kill them.

That's absolutely true.

Hiya Brokies!

It's new year's eve today!

I will be spending it at home, relaxing.  I went out and got some special foods that I would've had if I had gone to a party, and I'll have them for dinner today.

I'll watch cheesy Hallmark movies () and then the countdown to midnight.

I was invited to a gathering on New Year's Day, so I have to go out and buy a dessert for that, as I suspect most places will be closed tomorrow.

Tell him when l come up to him and ask to play the record, l'm gonna say: ''Voulez-vous jouer ce disque?''
'Voulez-vous, will you kiss my dick?'
Will you play my record? One-track mind!

Pasta for supper with broccoli on the side. Slice of red velvet cake for dessert. Beyond that, I don't know.  ???

Joey came up from the Cape for New Year's this year.  She brought wonderful Wellfleet oysters that we had with trout roe and sour cream.  Hendricks martinis.

Then my traditional Beef Wellington, individual, with duxelles and foie gras.  Perfectly rare this year!  Artichokes with vinaigrette.
 Little rosemary creamer potatoes.

A beautiful Spanish cava with Joey's homemade stollen.

Listening to jazz streaming on WOMR Provincetown radio.  Heaven.

Happy New Year to all!

Dinner was good, but, actually, till I got done with it and got everything cleaned up, I got in a pretty foul mood. I couldn't make up my mind what I wanted to do. I figured my usual drinkin' buddy, who's a waiter, would be dead on his feet after working New Year's Eve. He had hinted he wouldn't be out for a cocktail after he was done working. Finally I decided to clean up and dress up and go by the Usual Watering Hole anyway. I figured if it looked too crowded, I could just turn around and come home and drink my own liquor--because they still don't have my Glen Livet.

To my surprise, just as I was ready to leave home, my drinkin' buddy texted me that he was going to stop out anyway. To the surprise of both of us, he had an uncommonly bad New Year's Eve, bad in the sense of only seven "tables' in the restaurant where he works, and cheap tips, so he wasn't too tired anyway.

So we had drinks, and I ran into another old friend I hadn't seen in a long while, so it turned out to be not a bad evening after all.

The Korbel champagne for Midnight was a bit drier than I would prefer, but it was balanced by the sweetness of the Bacardi and Coke I was drinking.  ;D

Whichever fool was in charge of the TV in the bar did not have it tuned so we could see the Ball drop.  >:(

My Wellingtons tasted better than those.
