Thanks for posting, Shasta.   As I understand it, getting the rights to use a Beatles song in a commercial is VERY expensive (thank you, Michael Jackson).

Well, I don't think Sir Paul would have charged much less, LOL!   ;)

Well, they might have spent tons of money with the song but not with the filming since it appears to have been filmed in Mexico and not in Madrid. That's not Madrid. The Stop sign gives it away. In Spain it does not says ALTO, it says STOP. In English!

I've never seen a commercial welcoming anybody to the US.  That's very surprising.

It was produced by ESPN, to  get people to watch soccer on their station. Not so surprising when you realize what it is for.

David Beckham seems to be following Victoria's steps.

David Beckham to Star in Own TV Series

Hot on the stiletto heels of wife Victoria Beckham's NBC special, David Beckham is about to get his own TV show.

The 13-part weekly reality series David Beckham's Soccer USA, from American Idol producer Simon Fuller, will premiere next Wednesday on the FOX Soccer Channel.

"David Beckham's arrival is a tremendous milestone in U.S. soccer history," said FOX rep David Sternberg. "[The series] will provide an insider's look at his performance with the Los Angeles Galaxy."

On Monday, only 5 million viewers tuned into Victoria Beckham: Coming to America, which put the show – originally conceived as a mini-series – in the ratings basement.

David also faces a big question mark with his highly anticipated Saturday debut for the Galaxy. His kick-off still looks in doubt due to a left ankle injury.

Still, the money is on Beckham to make some sort of appearance on Saturday, reports Britain's The Times on Thursday.

"Everybody in Los Angeles and around the world wants to see him make his debut," Galaxy president Alexi Lalas tells the paper's Web site.

A roll call of Hollywood stars attended a party in honour of David and Victoria Beckham at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles last night.

The celebrity bash, billed as an official welcome to Tinseltown, was hosted by four friends of the British footballer and his former pop star wife - the actors Tom Cruise and his wife Katie Holmes, and Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith.

The six stars arrived together and halted to pose on the red carpet outside the venue. They locked arms and smiled at the cameras before disappearing inside.

The A-list credentials of the hosts apparently helped to tempt screen stars including comic Jim Carrey, Matthew Perry of Friends, and Eva Longoria of Desperate Housewives to sip champagne in the museum's Geffen Contemporary gallery.

Action hero Wesley Snipes and the music producer Quincy Jones came to welcome the 32-year-old soccer star, who on Saturday played his first game for his new club side, Los Angeles Galaxy. Bruce Willis turned up, as did his former wife Demi Moore and her new husband Ashton Kutcher.

The director Ron Howard and producer Brian Grazer were among the first to arrive. Brooke Shields was there, as was Simon Fuller, the creator of American Idol, who managed the Spice Girls pop group that launched Mrs Beckham to fame.

Cruise flew in for the bash from Germany, where he is shooting a film about a general who tried to assassinate Hitler. Other Hollywood heavyweights expected to drop in included George Clooney and Steven Spielberg.

A small army of police patrolled streets for blocks around the venue, keeping curious bystanders at a distance. The entrance was busy with limousines and TV cameras by the dozen. Helicopters thumped overhead.

Inside, the warehouse-like venue was transformed with couches, elaborate lighting and floral arrangements into a glitzy nightclub. Music blared.

Beckham, hindered by a nagging ankle injury, played only 12 minutes in his debut match as a Galaxy player. His team lost to Chelsea 1-0, but that failed to dampen the spirits of the sold-out crowd, whose cheers were so loud Beckham admitted to being “a little bit embarrassed at times”.

The match's only goal was scored by John Terry, Beckham's replacement as England captain.

Britney and Victoria cross paths....sort of!

Britney Spears Pauses in Mid-Meltdown to Insult Posh Spice
Jennifer McDonnell
Published: Thursday, August 02, 2007

It looks like Hollywood just isn't big enough for the inflated egos of both Britney Spears and Victoria Beckham. Even though the ditzy duo recently crossed paths at L.A.'s Chateau Marmont, they won't be rushing out to get matching BFF tattoos anytime soon.

According to the New York Daily News, Spears dropped in at the Hollywood hotspot last Tuesday and was horrified to see the slightly-less-tragic-but-equally-ridiculous Beckham holding court.

"Britney Spears turned up at the Chateau and the only table available was the one next to Posh," a witness tells the paper. "But Britney didn't want to sit next to her, so she and her friend stormed off to Il Sole instead."

Amazingly, the Chateau's management might actually prefer the cooch-flashing baby-neglector's patronage, since the former Spice Girl has a tendency to draw unwanted attention to the establishment.

"She always lets the paparazzi know when she'll be arriving," sniffs the source. "The Chateau Marmont tries to give celebs their privacy, and they hate her there. They like David [Beckham], though."

Sigh. Don't we all?

Ten Years of Brand Beckham

Ten years of Brand Beckham

By Fiona Pryor
Entertainment reporter, BBC News

It is 10 years since Posh and Becks sat on those thrones during their fairytale wedding at a castle in Ireland.

She is a former Spice Girl, now best known for her pout; he is a footballer not afraid to experiment with hairstyles and tattoos.

Together, David and Victoria Beckham are arguably the UK's most famous couple.

"They've been very clever with their marketing, and their branding has been very well thought out," says Phil Gould, assistant editor of OK! magazine.

With an estimated fortune of £125 million and ranking at 426th on the Sunday Times Rich List, Brand Beckham is a reliable money-spinner for the couple.

"They still sell very well and our readers are fascinated by their lives," Mr Gould says.

In fact, it was the Beckhams wedding on 4 July 1999 - for which they reportedly received £1 million - that started the celebrity wedding bidding wars we so often hear about today.

“ I think we can take it for granted that David and Victoria Beckham could possibly be together for ever ”
Mark Frith (pictured)
"It was the thing that everybody was talking about, and for the magazine, it was one of the first things we did. It got everybody talking about us," Mr Gould adds.

He says the photos of their wedding remain the third best-selling issue in the magazine's history.

Only the recent wedding of the late reality TV star Jade Goody, and the Katie Price/Peter Andre nuptials, outsold the Beckhams.

Over the past decade the Beckhams have worked their way up the celebrity ladder.

When they moved to Los Angeles in 2007, the pair were welcomed into the LA glitterati and were regularly photographed with Tom Cruise, his wife Katie Holmes, and Jennifer Lopez.

However, the state of their marriage has often been a cause for speculation, leaving some asking whether the united smiles in front of the camera are just a front.

'Deep love'

"I think a lot of people think the reason they stay together is for the money and the power that kind of couple brings.

"But there is more to it than that, there is a deep love there," says former Heat magazine editor Mark Frith.

Frith, who has met both of them, has written about his encounters in his book, The Celeb Diaries.

"They're not together just to keep this brand going. They have all the money in the world anyway and the fame isn't ever going to be a problem for them."

When asked if he thinks it is likely Posh and Becks will be celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary, he says it is a certainty.

"I'd put money on it. I think we can take it for granted that David and Victoria Beckham could possibly be together for ever."

But if it did all end tomorrow - would Brand Beckham still bring in the bucks?

Although Victoria remains the only Spice Girl not to have secured a number one solo single under her Gucci belt, her newly chosen career in fashion seems to be going well.

"The next progressive step for her was to launch her own catwalk label, which she's done very slowly, very carefully," says fashion designer Scott Henshall.

"I think it's very important that she didn't do this in the UK. She's shown this in New York - which automatically makes us Brits think she's even more fabulous."

'True icon'

According to him, the incredible success the pair have had as a couple is all down to Mrs Beckham.

"It's Victoria who is constantly pushing forward onto the global stage. I think the Spice Girls is almost a footnote now for her.

"Victoria's world stage is the red carpet."

He describes her as a "true icon" and says a lot of people would be surprised at how funny she is.

"She's very down-to-earth and she has a very dry sense of humour. I think she just wants to belong, I think she just wants to be accepted."

It seems David - or Goldenballs as Victoria likes to call him - has never had much of a problem being accepted within his profession.

"It's amazing how he can walk around in a sarong, a pair of pants or two ponytails, and it doesn't seem to have affected him a jot in terms of the way he's perceived within the sports world," says sports broadcaster Mark Webster.

"On a football field he expresses himself beautifully.

"It's an amazing achievement that David Beckham's come up with. He's kind of like the first guy to really nail it in in terms of football and everything else.

"He has taken it to a completely different level."
