Well for two of them, I had past life regressions. The other two I remembered in a really bizarre dream after I tossed and turned for four hours trying to get to sleep.

The one where I was a shaman, I was having some lower back problems, and I mean really sharp pains that were preventing me from meditating, so I thought a PLR would help. Turns out that I have some anger issues. I completely avoid the emotion, so when I experience so much of it that I can't ignore it, I usually don't act on it, so it becomes an internal cesspit. Or at least karmic anger issues. After that PLR I didn't have those pains again.

In the one where I was in Germany. I think this makes a lot of sense to me. I have always been attracted to the Third Reich from a cultural perspective. It's fascinating. My father is also attracted to the same time period so I think we may have been enemies during that war. Still a lot of hostilities underlying our relationship. Anyway, that was from a PLR also. I was having a lot of difficulty finding any purpose for living, and it was really making me very anxious. It still does to some point. People keep telling me I'm too intelligent to be doing what I'm doing, but I don't have much idea of where I should be. You'd think that College would have sorted this out for me... I think it only made it worse. But anyway, thats why I had that PLR. Funny thing was, that while it helped a little bit, it left more questions than answers.

But what is past life regression? I mean, how do you achieve it? Do you have to see a specialist? (I am an ignoramus in this field).

PLRs are normally done by some hypnotists trained to do it. I have a few books on the subject, and one of them includes a self-hypnosis script that you can record to hypnotise yourself and lead... Strangely, I can remember every detail of those PLRs. Basically you get very, very tired, and then you feel so heavy you don't want to do anything. Then the hypnotist starts asking you questions. And the conscious part of your brain is like "I'm too tired. leave me alone!" but you answer anyway. ((God, thats a creepy feeling.))  And then the memories rush in.

So you have to be able to be hypnotized to participate in a PLR or is that something altogether different?

This is an interesting thread. I have had a few PLR, readings from psychics and dreams about my past lives.

I was part of the Roman army but a city guard like a policeman. I was male, and evidently idealistic because the part I remembered I was disgusted with how corrupt Rome was becoming. I didn’t live real long because I was killed in a battle.

A Native American living in the west. I was female and discovered some information that the men were keeping to themselves. Unfortunately they were not happy about this, and I was killed. A psychic told me this story. She said I was an artist who made beautiful ceramic pots and when I was killed, they broke all of my pots. When she told me this I burst into tears. I’m an artist but do not work in ceramics.

I was in Ancient Egypt, as a priestess I think, but am not sure. Can’t remember much about it right now.

I was also in WWII, captured and sent to a concentration camp I think. When I was a child I used to hear the heavy boots of armies marching and it really scared me. It took me a long time before I was brave enough to watch my first program on the Holocaust and after the show I cried and cried and cried.

Thanks for starting this thread. – Leslie K.

Some psychics do PLR where they pick up immediately on your past lives. The ones where you're led into a trance-like state and discover everything yourself require the hypnotists.

Hey Leslie, this is exactly me! As a child (up to my teens) I had nightmares about living hidden during WW2, and every time in my nightmares I was physically chased by some nazi soldiers, inside homes/tunnels, and the feeling of terror was very vivid, I can tell you. And, I might add, all this started before I ever heard of the deportations and persecutions during WWII.
When I was 13 or 14, they showed us a documentary called "Nacht und Nebel" (night and fog) at school, about the camps, and I was in a state of shock (a real one, incapable of uttering a word or doing anything) for the rest of the week.
Watching/reading/hearing anything about the holocaust always upset me incredibly, and now I have given up as I cannot bear it at all.

Any references of books about PLR (to do yourself) welcome, since I wouldn't know which to pick. Thanks!

PS: someone on these boards, who thinks reincarnation is a fact, once told me she thinks all of us here met in at least one previous life, and it is no coincidence that we are now reunited through this board, thanks to BBM. Maybe if we can compare our feelings of belonging to past lives, we can work out when we all met?   :)

So far it appears more people here who were victims of Nazi oppression rather than being Nazis themselves.

IMO, this is the worst thing about reincarnation.  Traditonal thinking goes that you never really meet anyone new.  You just meet the same people over and over again in different guises.  I can't think of anything more frustrating or more depressing.  You have people in this life that make you crazy, that hurt you, who don't/can't love you and you are so glad to dump them, leave them behind...and you meet them again in another life??!?!?

Isabelle, your post really hit me in the gut. I have never shared that info with anyone. I suppose it happened to many people but we don't talk about it. It took me a long time to start reading and viewing information about the Holocaust culminating with a trip to the Holocaust Museum in Washington DC. I won't digress OT about what that experience was like here on this thread.

I could have easily been an oppressor in a past life but it just too hard for me to think about it.

There are many books out there and you can read for information, but for PLR, it's better to start by seeing a psychic who focuses on past lives and have him or her give you the information. When you are comfortable, you may want to attend a class or workshop on PLR. I haven't read books about the subject in ages, but I found the "Seth" books by Jane Roberts very enlightening. The Seth books go way beyond a simplistic view of reincarnation. If I think of anything else, I'll send you a PM.

Thanks for contributing. - Leslie K.

And Louise, I'd be VERY interested to know more about the techniques you mention (really).
Also, can you tell us more about what you remember of your previous lives please?

hee hee, well that is an honest answer!  I love it!

I don't like to go into details about what I recall, until I know someone quite well, because - well, frankly, I probably am talking to them because I know them, and one of the principles of awakening spirituality is not to provoke another's memories before they recall them themselves. I usually put what I remember into my poems and stories and if someone can relate to it, they are attracted to it and tell me.

Obviously - homosexuality plays an important role in my past.  I have a rather complete understanding of my previous lives going back several cycles, and according to the Hermetic tradition, these cycles are approximately 144 years.  Therefore working back from 1959, my present incarnation, my previous incarnation would have been in the early years of the 19th century, if it were exact (it is not often exact) it would be 1815, but was actually 1810.  And the one prior to that would have been 144 years prior to that, which, correcting for error, would have been 1666, etc, etc.  Most incarnations alternate between male and female lives, which is where I am unusual in that I have very few memories of female incarnations at all.  What I will say is that I have always been involved in the law and in the study and recording of history, and at one time was politically active, but have never ranged far from scholarly endeavours.

As far as the techniques go, I have learned that past life regressions can be traumatic.  Also, that readings by psychics can also be too traumatic, and awaken something before the mind can handle it.  It is not that the memories may not be accurate or meaningful - however, like being told by a doctor that you have six months to live, when he can't possibly know that - another person's interpretation of your own past life experience, unless they are a very well trusted intimate - are relatively useless in your own self understanding, unless you yourself can validate that memory and that awareness.  None of the memories I have acquired have been given to me by other people, nor induced by past life regressions - they were all given to me during a gradual process of awakening as my soul has been ready to receive them.

I hope that helps.
