It's raining in Riverton
Does the Big Sky know to be sad
is it crying for two Wyoming sons
and the lost love they once had
The bitter winds bite across the plains
like a punishment for speaking their names
Will they again meet in the sweet hereafter
will the canyons and mountains
again ring with their laughter
maybe so, who's to say
But it's raining in Riverton today.

What do y'all think?
It may sound a bit elementary but everyone has to start somewhere...

I think it's lovely and moving, lee.  I especially like these lines:

like a punishment for speaking their names

I like it Lee.

Sad, but moving, i guess that's your starting point.

will the canyons and mountains
again ring with their laughter?

Thank you everyone!
I'm glad y'all liked it.
It helped me move through the sadness to write that and my other stories.

Loneleeb3, I love it!  I think you're very talented and you should keep writing.  I would like to read more of your work featuring our boys.   :)

They call the wind
« Reply #17 on: May 15, 2007, 11:12:52 pm »
They call the wind Moriah but I just call him Jack.
He runs his fingers through my hair and sends shivers down my back.
He whispers to me in the swaying of the trees.
He brings me sweet jasmine on the warm summer breeze.
He sings to me of silver stars in the moonless velvet night.
He dances witht he leaves of fall in a whirling twisting flight.
My secret friend, a love that knows no end.
They call the wind Moriah but I just call him Jack.

I know, it's silly but it just came into my head so I thought I'd share it. :)

I don't think it's silly at all - I think it's sweet and lovely.  I'm glad you shared it.   :)
