Front-Ranger:
What about the Bastille Day decor?
Let's have a contest to see who spots Halloween stuff in the stores the earliest. Must have photographic proof (of life)!!

--- Quote from: CellarDweller on Yesterday at 10:33:03 am ---When we had one of the earlier heat waves this summer, I noticed that my A/C unit was not working as well as it should be. It would be 100 outside, and 80 in my apartmentl. Property Management got someone out to service the A/C unit, and thankfully they did a good job with it. The last heatwave it was 106 out, but the apartment was 73. Thank God!

I turn my thermostat to 77 every morning. Most summer days it doesn't kick in until late afternoon, if then. Lately, temps have been in the low- to mid-90s, so it's on more. I don't turn it down until I go to bed, at which time I turn it to 74, and then down a degree or two if I get up in the middle of the night.
Sason:
There are plenty of days between now and October for you to celebrate, Chuck!
A few examples:
8th August, our queen Silvia's names day
13th September, our election day
23rd September, autumnal equinox
4th October, the cinnamon bun's day
5th October, international children's day
24th October, the UN day
25th October, end of summer time (we finally get our lost hour back!)
Go ahead and buy stuff and put up!
Jeff Wrangler:
I think we in the U.S. should import Cinnamon Bun Day.

Those are all very worthy holidays except the switch out of daylight savings time. I don't like it when sunset moves from past 9 p.m. in late June to 5 by November and about 4:30 by the winter solstice. Goes without saying that the day after the solstice is the time to celebrate Longerdays!
