Thanks for the birthday wishes Kerry, Paul, Janice, Lee and Truman!!  :-*   :-*

Dottie created a happy birthday thread over at the Polling Place and a bunch of people left wonderful messages for me in there too! I'm beginning to feel humble and shy from all this attention today!  :D

Thanks again everyone!!  :)

Saw this and thought of you David!  Appropos since it is/was your birthday and you Hoosers seem to be a long lived bunch to which Gertrude can certainly attest!  Bless her heart  ;D

110-yr-old Colts fan going to first game

Gertrude Shindel fits in among the team’s diehard fans with her customized Indianapolis Colts jersey and a book signed by coach Tony Dungy.
But at 110 years old, she’s also slightly older than your average fanatic. And though she’s lived in three centuries, she has never attended a Colts game.

The supercentenarian will attend her first Colts game Sunday at RCA Dome, where she will sit as a guest of Mayor Bart Peterson. The Denver Broncos (2-1) kick off against the Colts (3-0) at 4:15 p.m.
Shindel, who lives at Plainfield Health Care Center, also will be wearing a customized jersey from Morris Apparel reading “Gertrude -- #1 Fan” on the back.

Never Too Late, an Indianapolis-based group that grants wishes to residents of retirement homes, organized the event.

In February, Shindel attended a book and DVD signing by Dungy and running back Joseph Addai at the Plainfield Wal-Mart, where she said, “I think (the Colts) are wonderful. . . . I watch every game I can.”

Bless her heart! She sounds so cute! Wouldn't you just love to sit down and talk with her, and listen to her life story. Just think about it. She was born in 1897! She was already 14 or 15 years old when the Titanic sank! She would remember World War I, World War II, the Depression, Prohibition, all kinds of things! That was one of things I loved the most when I worked at the nursing home. I loved talking to all the residents and listening to their stories. I learned a lot from them. The best history lessons come from those who lived it. The elderly deserve ALL of our respect, compassion and love.

Maybe they will show her on TV this Sunday while she's at the game!! I'll be watching for her! Thanks for posting this Dottie!!  :D  :D

Hope you had a lovely birthday, David!  :D

Did you notice that the bunny in the pic I posted is jumping out of a big ol' CHERRY CAKE?!!!  :o

I'm guessing that's what the red dots are around the middle of the cake!  ??? Can't think of a better explanation haha!  ;D

A Hundred and Ten years, and still able to go to a Colts game. Dang! I'll have what she's having!

I've heard some centenarians say a positive outlook on life is just as important as diet and exercise. Many say they laugh a lot. Many doctors also believe laughing is very good for the heart and circulatory system.  :)
