a question about the reposting of threads
« on: July 08, 2007, 11:16:32 pm »
Are spoiler warnings necessary over here or has everyone who comes here pretty much seen the movie or chosen to spoiler themselves?  What I mean is, if an OP had neglected to include a spoiler warning in the subject line, and I happen to notice huge spoilers or someone asking the OP to edit their subject line and then they didn't -- should I add "SPOILERS" to the subject line, or does it not matter?

I'm not sure if this is where to post something like this?  I did 'cause it pertains to this one board.  After I get some opinions back, can I just ask any mod to delete the thread for me so I'm not creating clutter??

Thanks, guys.

I would assume that anyone who has joined this forum would be familiar with how the story unfolds.  What do others think?

You are correct.  Any moderator can delete a thread should it become clutter.  But any thread that is not responded to will also just sink further into the pile and one does not have to worry about it falling off the back end, as they do at IMDb.

(I see the board over there is about half the volume of what it was about a month ago...)

Yeah, I'm just trying to save every non-troll-thread I can before they fall off.  I've got hundreds by now I think; hard to tell with the multipagers in multiple files.  I have an Excel sheet of the 397 threads that existed as of July 4, to keep track of file names of those I save, and so my OCD brain will know of any that vanish mysteriously before I manage to look at them.  I also have a sheet of all the threads in this board so I can try my best not to duplicate.

Hugs,

TH,

Today I am mailing you a set of back up files from the other board in two formats - .webarchive and html folders.

I don't think a spoiler warning is necessary anymore.

LOL,  I don't know if I've seen a spoiler warning around here for a long, long time (except sometimes in fanfic threads in the fanfic forum).  Yup, I think you're pretty much safe in leaving that kind of warning off at this point when discussing BBM as a film or story.  I think most folks on this form have seen or read it at least once (if not hundreds of times).

But, I must say, it's very considerate of you to bring the issue up and ask!  :)

I agree with Amanda that it's doubtful any spoiler warnings are necessary except with respect to fan fiction or creative writing discussions.  I am incredibly happy about all the work y'all are doing to repost the classic IMDb threads.  I am looking forward to savoring them one by one in the coming weeks!

Thank you so much for your dedication.
