Hiya BetterMost friends!!!!

Out with the old.....

and in with the new!

Truth be told, it's bigger than what I had intended on getting, but it's got more functions and abilities than the one I had before.

The old TV could get YouTube, but had no streaming or apps.  This one does.

Already figured out how to get live TV on it, so figuring streaming stuff is next.

So, would it be fair to say it's really a computer with a flat-screen monitor?

My daughter has a flat screen hanging in the playroom that displays various paintings she's selected. It can also play slide shows of pictures from her phone. I think it can actually be used as a computer and she has Alexa hooked up to it. Never boring!

Today I noticed there is something on my phone called "For You". I opened it and saw a selection of slide shows I could play. I chose one from my trip to Switzerland with my grandsons. It had a soundtrack and everything. The problem is, I never made such a slideshow. I think AI is trying to seduce me.

I get those frequently. AI, you Casanova! I don't know why the phone is trying to showcase its photo app -- I already have it, can't buy anything from it.||

Hiya BetterMost friends!!!!

I hope everyone is doing well!

Yes, that's what I've gotten!

I have it connected, but I haven't used it yet.

I have a friend who is a tech guy by profession.  He recommended a certain security/virus protection, and I had just renewed it at the beginning of the year.  I contacted him and asked if there was a way to transfer it to my new computer, and he said there was, and he can help me with that, so I'm waiting on his help for that.  I don't want to use the computer until this is in place, so I'm still using the current desk top.  Once the security is set up, I can transfer what docs and pics and favorites I want, and then I'm good to go.

Stay-cation will end on Monday morning when the alarm goes off, and I know I'm going to hate hearing it!    I can't complain however,  I managed to get a lot done.   I got the new comp, TV, updated my surge bars, moved some furniture and vacuumed behind them, laundry is put away,  groceries ordered, and I even managed to get my work laptop signed on and went through all my emails.

Yes, one shouldn't use a work laptop while away from work but I hate signing on the first day back from vacation to see over 500 emails that need to be sorted through.  I got that done yesterday, so it's just the ones that need replies that are left.

Hiya BetterMost friends!!!!

I hope everyone in the US is having a great Labor Day weekend!   It's almost 7:00pm here, so the weekend is coming to a close.

Typing this to you all from the new desktop, my tech friend helped me get everything set up quickly, and it's working well!

;D

My weekend has gone well.   I shut down quickly on Friday, and spent the evening at home.  Saturday I went grocery shopping, and then to my friends' home for gathering and some pizzas.  I got there about 2:00 and got home about 8:30, so it was a long day.   Sunday I went out to lunch with my family and did a quick load of laundry.  Monday was a day spent at the apartment.  I let myself sleep in, had an easy lunch, and then spent time going through some drawers and my utility closet, getting rid of all the stuff I no longer need or want.  I reorganized it and gave myself a bit more space, and then I got the living room organized.

Back to the office tomorrow, but the week should pass quickly as it will only be 4 days long.

August was much cooler than usual, and for that I'm grateful!  I do wonder what this will mean for winter....perhaps snowier than last year?   We had a few snowstorms, but nothing crazy and the totals weren't too bad.

Hi, friend! Thanks for the update! My Labor Day was quiet. I went out to buy a punch card for the rec center--I'm getting back to climbing on the climbing wall. Then I trtied to mow the grass since my regular mower guy has graduated and gone off to college. But the mower wouldn't start. I had lent my mower to the renter. Will I ever learn not to lend stuff to renters? It was probably left out in the rain.

So off I went to what Offline Chuck calls Home Despot to get a new switch for it. I found the mower parts aisle but needed help finding the switches. There was a sign with a QR code if you needed help, you could call on your phone. After a lengthy wait, a guy came and looked at the picture I had taken of the switch. He searched on Google to see if they had it at the store but no luck. He showed me on his phone where I could order it on Amazon. So the second lesson I learned was not to bother going to a store anymore!

I think you should reconsider, depending on what you're looking for. Recently I got good and friendly help at Homo Depot when I needed some new fluorescent tubes.

Then just last week I went to a Boot Barn to look for a pouch to carry my cell phone on my belt. There are many, many, many listings for such pouches online, and at lower cost than what I paid in the store, but I wanted to make sure I bought one large enough to hold my phone. At the store I was able to try different pouches to make sure my phone fit, and I was able to find one that suited my needs. With my luck I would have bought one online that didn't fit my phone, and then I would have had the nuisance of dealing with a return.
