Claire Denis's masterpiece, an adaptation of Melville's "Billy Budd"; perhaps the last great film to be released in the twentieth century:

Robert Sean Leonard is on "House" now, in case anyone didn't know.

my favorite scene is actually when they read a quote and then kick a soccer (?) ball while listening to classical music...  couldn't find an image of that one...

Beautiful short from distinguished experimental filmmaker James Broughton; one of the great films of the 1970s:

Terry Gilliam's delightfully demented directorial debut (as single director on a feature, that is):

Okay, so it's not the greatest movie ever made and Meg Ryan wore some really ugly outfits (although I did like her dress at the end)...it had a few plot holes big enough to drive through and they played fast and loose with historical facts...but it had Hugh Jackman as royalty! What more could a movie goer want? Liev Schreiber wasn't bad either. It was the last time on the screen for Spalding Gray in a funny little cameo.
