"V" is A Virgin in Hollywood (1953)
« Reply #5421 on: November 21, 2008, 05:01:21 pm »

From IMDb:  The editor of a small-town newspaper sends his star reporter out to Hollywood to get the real story of what goes on in Hollywood. She goes tooling down Hollywood Blvd, in her Buick-8 convertible and buys a map showing where the stars live. That's the highlight. In cowboy-speak, this exploitation film..."is all hat...and no cattle."

From IMDB: Carl Martin is a morose and deranged Los Angeles gardener, who,in retribution for the infidelity of his unfaithful wife, sets about to kill as many blonde's as he can. From the time the film opens, to the sound of a radio turned up full-blast over the still-warm corpse of a blonde, the audience knows the identity of the killer. The film depicts, with documentary realism as it was shot on location in and around Los Angeles, how the police, using laboratory techniques against the few clues they have, track down Martin. Their key clue is a spring from a pair of garden shears. The police move in just as Martin is about to add Jane Saunders, the daughter of a greenhouse owner, to his long list of victims.

Wildcard "X" is The Sadist (1963)
« Reply #5423 on: November 21, 2008, 06:50:54 pm »

Plot:   Three people driving into Los Angeles for a Dodgers game have car trouble and pull off into an old wrecking yard where they are held at bay by a bloodthirsty psycho and his crazy girlfriend.

Excerpt from Cinema de Merde:
BUT one of the most notable things about this movie—that I’m amazed that none of the reviews on IMDb mention (guess is takes a cocksucker like me…)—is that the first time the Sadist appears on screen, he HAS A HUGE BONER. The sexualized “subtext” of the film comes to the fore, as they say, because this dude HAS A HUGE DILDO STUFFED DOWN HIS PANTS and there is NO WAY this could be an accident. Watch it again and once you see it, there is NO WAY TO MISS IT. It’s kind of shocking, and provides an interesting view of how sexual menace can be conveyed while avoiding having to outwardly show other aspects. The boner reappears at one point about 30 minutes in, but the first time is the most shocking, and the most noticeable.  http://www.cinemademerde.com/sadist.shtml

"Y" is Yellow Cargo (1936)
« Reply #5424 on: November 22, 2008, 11:21:07 am »
From IMDb:

An investigator looks into the activities of a movie producer he believes is involved in smuggling Asians into the U.S.

From Amazon:

Starring superstar leading man Conrad Nagel, Sinful Cargo is the arresting story of an FBI and National Immigration Services hunt to break up a smuggling ring trading in illegal aliens. Nagel comes to Hollywood as an NIS agent helping the FBI, and is quickly mistaken for a New York actor! Cleverly, Nagel plays along in order to be completely unassuming as he investigates into the immigrant racket that's being run out of a movie studio front. Originally titled Yellow Cargo, in poor taste by today's standards, Sinful Cargo is a slick and well acted crime drama thats another tremendous performance by Conrad Nagel.

From IMDb:  Rudy is an American of Mexican descent who is caught up in an immigration raid on a factory. Deported to Mexico as an illegal immigrant, he has no way of proving that he is in fact an American citizen and is forced to rely on his cunning to sneak his way back home.

aka:  Paradise America

Veropakolaisten paratiisiin, jossa kaikki onkin aluksi yhtä juhlaa.

Vähitellen alkaa tekemään tottuneelle Erkille uima-altaan reunalla ryypiskely, päättömät ostosmatkat ja rahoilla rehentely maistua puulta. Hän päättää ryhtyä taas töihin. Mutta kieltä taitamattomana Erkki joutuukin huumekauppiaiden kuriiriksi...

From IMDb:

Bob Rafelson has stated that this is the final part of an informal trilogy he started with "Five Easy Pieces" and continued with "The King Of Marvin Gardens". In the three, Nicholson has now played son, brother and father. In this one, Nicholson is a wealthy wine dealer who has distanced himself from his wife with his philandering and from his son with his negligence. After he steals a diamond necklace with the help of a safecracker partner, Victor, things start coming apart. His wife sets out to interrupt what she thinks is another one of his weekend dalliances, but is really his trip to pawn the jewels.  Written by John Sacksteder

Set in Miami

"C" is Cracker Crazy: Invisible Histories of the Sunshine State (2007)
« Reply #5429 on: November 22, 2008, 06:55:46 pm »

[From IMDB: Renegade filmmaker Georg Koszulinski takes on Florida's history from a decidedly different point of view. Blending archival and original footage, he brings to life a cast of historical characters spanning over 12,000 years, from Florida's ancient Indians to the migrant farm workers of the 21st century. Meet Osceola and the Seminoles, who fought alongside escaped slaves in the most costly Indian War in American History. Unmask Florida's Ku Klux Klan and don't forget about Walt Disney and Henry Flagler - perhaps the two characters most responsible for the Florida we know today. "Think you know Florida? Think again. See 'Cracker Crazy' for an eye-opening experience."
