More

From IMDB: The making of a heroin addict. Stefan, fresh from college, hitches from Germany to Paris, where he does a little breaking and entering to get some money and soon meets Estelle, a young American. Even through a friend warns him off Estelle, Stefan falls for her (she's quixotic). Although he's quickly petulant and possessive, she invites him to follow her to Ibiza for romance in the sun and sand. There Stefan meets another German, Wolf, whose connection with Estelle Stefan can't fathom. He also meets Kathy, whose relationship with Estelle is also unclear at first. What explains her disappearances and furtive behavior? And once Stefan understands, what will he do about it?

From IMDb:
Prolific man of the theatre and occasional film-maker Lepage brilliantly finds a farce among the separatists in Montreal in 1970 to match the Feydeau varierty being performed at Expo 70 in Tokyo. The link is the actress Sophie in Japan, whose boy-friend Michel in Montreal wants to write a more elegant note to go with the bomb his terrorist colleagues plan to set off in three hours' time. His confusion over Japanese and Canadian time has hilarious consequences, as does Sophie's involvement with a lecherous diplomat and his snooty wife. 'No' refers to the Quebequois vote against separation in 1980 & to a No play in Tokyo. My "Yes' is acclaim for a delicious film. Catch it if you can.

Thank You, André Morency.... Writer

IMDB: When Marie, a widow in Provence with two daughters, locks her bedroom door and goes to sleep, she dreams about Marty, a literary agent in Manhattan who dreams equally vividly about Marie. The women look alike. Marie meets William who begins to court her. Marty meets Aaron, an accountant, becomes his friend and then his lover. Both women tell their lovers about their dream life. William is jealous, Aaron is accepting. Even though they've become lovers, Marie won't fall asleep next to William. Marie goes on holiday with William to Paris, and Marty wakes up with an ashtray from the hotel on her night stand. Are they the same person? What will unlock reality?

ONCE MORE
(Encore)

Louis (Jean-Louis Rolland) is a family man, with a wife and young daughter, who discovers in mid-life that he is gay. After breaking up with his wife Sybele (Florence Giorgetti), his first homosexual encounter nearly drives him to suicide. A short stint as a gay prostitute follows as he continues to struggle with his sexual identity. Louis later finds love with another man who stays with him in spite of the fact that he has AIDS. This remarkable film was shot in ten days and follows the lives of those in it over a ten-year period (from 1978 to 1988) in ten episodes. ~ Dan Pavlides, All Movie Guide

I saw this little-seen film back in 88.  At one point the cast breaks out into song which probably makes this the first AIDS musical.

Stardust Memories

IMDB: A director named Sandy Bates is a man who simply doesn't want to make goofball comedies anymore, and it seems that the comedies are all that society wants from him. He's unhappy at the moment because his first "serious" film isn't well received by the public. He decides to stay a weekend at a hotel to reflect upon his life, body of work, and relationships of the past while a festival showcasing his films is occurring. Meanwhile, he encounters groups of his fans who ask for autographs, compliment him on his "early funnies", his style of filmmaking, and he encounters a beautiful woman named Dorrie, with whom he falls in love.

"T" is The Tempest (2010)
« Reply #6057 on: September 09, 2010, 06:31:26 pm »
From director Julie Taymor

From IMDb:
In Julie Taymor's version of 'The Tempest,' the gender of Prospero has been switched to Prospera. Going back to the 16th or 17th century, women practicing the magical arts of alchemy were often convicted of witchcraft. In Taymor's version, Prospera is usurped by her brother and sent off with her four-year daughter on a ship. She ends up on an island; it's a tabula rasa: no society, so the mother figure becomes a father figure to Miranda. This leads to the power struggle and balance between Caliban and Prospera; a struggle not about brawn, but about intellect.

I'm proud of this one, lol!

"V" is Vincere (2009)
« Reply #6059 on: September 10, 2010, 05:52:21 pm »

Plot: The powerful new film from acclaimed auteur Marco Bellocchio (My Mothers Smile, Good Morning, Night, The Wedding Director), VINCERE is a compelling drama based on the littleknown story of Benito Mussolinis first wife. Ida Dalsar (Giovanno Mezzogiorno) and Mussolini (Filippo Timi) begin their liaison in 1914; she is a well-to-do beauty salon owner and he is an impoverished young Socialist and union activist. When Ida sells all her possessions to fund her lover's new newspaper, the rise of Fascism is set into play An official selection of the Cannes, Toronto and Telluride Film Festivals, VINCERE is a gripping film that combines drama, archive footage, and music creating a highly cinematic oratorio of enormous emotional force.

Giovanna Mori plays Tedesca.
