Two weeks ago when we had an "unseasonably warm" Halloween, the local talking weather heads remarked that for the past few years, down here in southeastern Pennsylvania, we seem to have developed a pattern of a warm spell around the beginning of November.
A few years ago, when Halloween was on a Friday and November 1 was a Saturday, my medieval reenactment group had an event at Fort Mifflin on the Saturday. We all expected cold--or at least cool--weather (hey, it was November 1, right?) and dressed accordingly in warm garb. What happened? It was so warm, with temperatures in the 70s, that we damn near asphyxiated from the heat!
